Clifford Chance

GBR - PRIME work placement (Newcastle), 27-29 October 2020

Clifford Chance is proud to be a founding member of PRIME. Through PRIME, Clifford Chance is committed to ensuring that anyone who wants to enter the world of law has an equal chance to do so, regardless of their background.

Our classroom based PRIME placement is an introduction to a career in law and is open to students from state schools who have the academic potential to be a successful lawyer but may not necessarily have opportunities to access the legal profession.

You'll spend three days at our Newcastle office, where you'll meet and interact with professionals from our Newcastle office as well as graduate recruitment specialists.  We will introduce you to the areas of law within which we practice and talk to you about the opportunities in London and Newcastle.  You will also get to develop important skills for whichever career you choose....networking, personal impact, recruitment hints and tips and you'll even have a mock interview with feedback

And it does not just end there. We will keep in regular contact with you following the scheme, you will have access to mentors at the firm and you will be invited back for events and a reunion before you head off for university.

Our PRIME participants should:

  • attend a state (non-fee paying) school
  • be in Year 12-13 (England and Wales); S5-6 (Scotland); or Lower or Upper Sixth (Northern Ireland) If you are about to start year 12 in September then you are able to apply
  • either be the first generation in your immediate family to attend university, or be (or have been) eligible for free school meals

You will also need to be able to commute to our Newcastle office and reasonable travel expenses will be covered (not including accommodation costs).

If you are unable to attend our Newcastle scheme then there is a London scheme available.

In order to apply please either

  • upload a copy of your CV and answer the final questions about why you want to do the scheme
  • Do not upload a scheme but enter your academic grades, work experience and answer the questions about why you want to do the scheme

Decisions will be made after the application deadline which is 31st July and we will let you know whether you have been offered a place on PRIME by the end of August 2020.
