About the team:
We are passionate about connecting buyers and sellers around the world and creating opportunities through commerce and technology. Our responsibilities include all aspects of eBay’s business in the EMEA region including eBay’s operations in major European markets -- UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain -- as well as driving growth in emerging markets such as Turkey.
The Corporate Communications & Seller PR Manager will help define and bring to life eBays corporate narrative in Germany with a particular focus on positioning eBay as the partner of choice for small businesses. Together with the Corporate Communications & Seller PR Lead you will build and drive communications strategy for business milestones and major developments on the marketplace that help position eBay as commerce and tech leader. The role includes building and maintaining trusted cross-functional relationships across the business (Verticals, Consumer PR, Government Relations, Seller Marketing, Project Leads and Leadership Team). You will use media relations to pitch programs and stories that will drive positive perception and relevance of eBay with target audiences.

A track-record in issues and crisis communications is equally important. You will be working within the communications team and our agency partners.

Co-own the areas of Corporate Communications and Seller PR for eBay in Germany, with a particular focus on
Positioning of eBay as THE partner of choice for SMBs
Ongoing business milestone storytelling for eBay in Germany
Business & retail media and influencer relationship building and maintenance
Issues & crisis management
Seller success storytelling
Establish and nurture relationships with key retail and technology media and influencers
Manage eBay DE’s Corporate LinkedIn and Twitter channels
Develop and execute Corporate Communications and Seller PR plans for eBay Germany, working closely together with e.g. Consumer PR, Government Relations, Seller Marketing, Project / Vertical Leads, DE Leadership
Reactively manage business-related issues and incoming related media inquiries
Work with agency partners to drive a steady stream of proactive and reactive corporate coverage throughout the year
Align with EMEA & Global Corporate Communications & Seller PR
A minimum of five years of corporate communications experience delivering smart and effective strategies – preferably in a global corporation or agency
Bachelor’s degree required
Strong ability to manage media relations and collaborate with media and partners
Ideally media relations experience with top tier and trade reporters
Ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic team environment and maintain positive relationships with key business partners
Ability to connect the dots between business initiatives to find and create news or identify industry trends where eBay can stand out as an innovator and leader
Demonstrated record of pitching and placing proactive media stories and reactively managing press inquiries across retail, B2B and technology media
Demonstrated record of creating and driving successful communications strategies and creative campaigns that are strongly rooted in business goals
Demonstrated success collaborating and influencing diverse business partners (especially those at senior levels/C-level executives) in a highly matrixed organization
Excellent writing skills and able to translate narratives into different formats (from story pitches to presentations)
A highly creative, solution-focused approach with a ‘can-do attitude’
Great teammate with a passion to work collaboratively
Experience of working in a fast-paced business environment
Passion for Retail as well as for the eBay brand
Excellent written and spoken German and English
