We are seeking a Distinguished MTS, Architect to lead Buyer Experience Engineering team. This role reports into the Vice President of Buyer Experience Engineering. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in setting technical vision for a 300+ geo distributed engineering team, building large scale systems ground up, pushing the barriers on scalability, availability, performance and innovation and seamlessly collaborating across stakeholders.

What will you do?

  • Create a technical vision and strategy for Buyer Experience that balances long term and short term goals, while continuously delivering business value. Influence leadership on the same.

  • Conceive, design and implement innovative systems and solutions to address complex business and technology problems. The solutions must be secure, resilient and performant. Build on eBay’s open-source presence by contributing solutions that solve well-known problems to the open-source community.

  • Deep domain expertise of concepts, products and technologies in one or more e-commerce domains with the ability to apply the expertise to set technical direction and drive improvements to our products.

  • Provide hands-on technical and thought leadership across development, product management, operations and engineering management through effective collaboration and communication.

  • Provide Internal and External training and education which includes participation in external forums (developer conferences, tech conferences) as speakers.

  • Actively mentor engineers across teams to further their careers, and inspire them.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent

  • 15+ years of strong, hands-on development experience

  • Experience in building large scale, distributed, highly available systems

  • Customer centric thinking and should act as a bridge between product and engineering teams across different locations

  • Proven track record of engineering excellence including continuous delivery of high quality, massively scaled, innovative software.

  • Strong technical and product vision and the ability to communicate this vision to multiple audiences.

  • Demonstrated background in modeling software systems and excellent programming skills

  • Strong skills for verbal & written communication targeting technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast paced environment, while still focusing on goals.

  • Self-motivated, passionate for technology, and a strong driver for results, continuous improvement and open source.
