eBay’s global Government Relations team represents the interests of eBay and all eBay businesses before governments around the world through legislative & regulatory work, advocacy programs and commerce policy thought leadership.

Overview: You will assist eBay’s Global Competition Counsel with mergers and acquisitions (M&A), internal antitrust counseling and training, and global competition policy advocacy.

Mergers & Acquisitions

eBay’s Global Competition Counsel is consulted during all phases of M&A activities, from planning through due diligence. The Competition Counsel also leads merger control procedures before national competition authorities. As Legal Counsel, Competition, you will support eBay’s Competition Counsel, collaborate closely with CorpDev and relevant eBay business units, and liaise with outside counsel.

Internal antitrust counseling & training

As Legal Counsel, Competition, you will work together with the broader Legal team to provide legal counsel and guidance on antitrust compliance to eBay business units. In particular, you will implement eBay’s global competition compliance code and training programs. You will also partner with Legal and Government Relations (GR) teams to ensure consistency across geographies and platforms related to antitrust compliance.

Global competition policy advocacy

As Legal Counsel, Competition, you will support GR in advocating on global competition policy. In particular, you will develop eBay’s positions on matters of competition policy, legislation and enforcement . As part of that, you will lead any competition law enforcement efforts and requests and will work closely with GR to engage in high-level external relations with government officials, regulatory agencies and NGOs on competition and antitrust policy. You will also participate as needed in public speaking events, conferences, legislative hearings, policy meetings, and networking activities.


  • A JD or international equivalent in anti-trust/competition law, with two to five years of antitrust experience, preferably with experience at a law firm, the DOJ or FTC or relevant non-US regulator/agency.

  • International experience is an advantage with a strong preference for a background in European and US competition law.

  • You work independently, you take initiatives and responsibility.

  • Bring strong organizational and writing skills.

  • Creative, diligent and ambitious

  • You have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality related to business matters
