Product & Project Manager, Innovations

For our team in Dreilinden / Berlin, we are looking for:

Product Owner & Project Manager, Commerce Innovations (f/m/d)

- for an 18 month fixed term contract -

You will be part of the eBay team working on ideating, developing, and scaling eBay’s innovations in Germany. We work quickly and entrepreneurially to develop products and dynamically execute on our go-to-market strategy to test, learn, and iterate. This opportunity to work for a venture studio organisation, with a startup mentality and nestled within one of the greatest ecommerce companies in the world, is truly one-of-a-kind. In this role, you will be expected to formulate and lead the build, launch, and incubation of new products and businesses, as well as to manage execution with our cross-functional teams through scrums. You will report to the Head of Commerce Innovations and contribute as part of the leadership team.

Your tasks:

We are looking for an experienced individual who is motivated, entrepreneurial, hands-on, analytical, organized, and not afraid to work hard to achieve something great. This person needs to have a focus on customer needs, communicate and present clearly, adeptly structure the approach to problems and projects, and collaboratively manage cross-functional project teams. Having a strong sense of the ecommerce business, vision for innovative products and businesses, ability to drive and execute on product-market-fit, experience with product development, and being a self-starter are invaluable traits to being successful in this role.

Core responsibilities:

  • Manage and fully own innovation projects, including:

    • Development of business case 

    • Definition of project goals & milestones in collaboration with leadership

    • Setup and lead project team 

    • Drive execution of projects through team sprints using scrum framework

    • Management of project budget for go-to-market and product developmentProducing insights and learnings from project

  • Support stakeholder management and leadership alignment

    • Present to and attain approvals and guidance from Steering Committee at key project milestones

    • Create and maintain documentation related to projects and provide periodic updates to team and Steering Committee

    • Recommendation to leadership on post-MVP strategy 

  • Contribute to ongoing innovation activities

    • Identify fast, simple ways to test new ideas or iterations in order to improve or pivot projects

    • Advise on innovation project proposals alongside the rest of the innovation leadership

    • Continuously review market trends and competitor moves to inform team on new opportunities

  • Be a key contributor to and co-owner of the team culture, identify and recommend opportunities for improvement, and advise leadership on solutions to overcome obstacles/challenges

Your profile:

  • At least 10 years of experience in product management, corporate innovation, startups/ventures, project management, business development, and/or consulting

  • Ability to balance multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity and maintain an organised strategy and plan

  • Strong business acumen with analytical background as well as a data-driven approach

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral

  • Great stakeholder management skills especially across various team members in a matrix organisation, external agencies, and other internal leadership

  • Get-stuff-done, entrepreneurial attitude

  • Quick learner, able to pick up new information swiftly

  • Hard worker and committed team player who shares in our vision

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem solving skills, as well as meticulous attention to detail

  • Ability to structure problems and solutions, and present them effectively to leadership

  • Fluency in both German and English a plus
