The Payments Privacy Senior Counsel will be the primary privacy advisor on all global payments privacy matters at eBay Inc., including those related to payment intermediation, financial products and payments license applications. The role will serve as the primary privacy advisor to the legal and business teams. With a focus on the company’s payments and financial product offerings. You will work directly with the legal and business teams responsible for general legal compliance of products involving personal information.
Specific duties will include:
Provide risk-based review of our payment products globally (with specific focus on the US and EU) and identify applicable regulatory or legal privacy risks, and advise on appropriate controls, risk mitigation options and compliance strategies.
Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) on relevant payments products and services involving the collection, processing, and disclosure of personal information.
Assist legal and business or product organizations in the development and implementation of a formal privacy compliance review process for any payments related businesses/products.
Coordinate with regional and functional privacy heads on any payments related businesses/products in that region/function.
Establish a communication and engagement strategy with applicable privacy regulators in the respective regions.
Deep experience in and knowledge of global financial privacy laws, including but not limited to US privacy laws (GLBA, RFPA, FACTA, FCRA), EU GDPR as well as banking secrecy requirements in US and EU
Specific experience with payments, payment intermediation and financial products and partnerships
Experience working cross-functionally and partnering with other lawyers as well as business and engineering teams
JD or foreign equivalent, 6-8 years of work experience
Experience in advising senior business leaders on payments privacy matters and developing global strategies for legal compliance
Excellent judgment and an ability to communicate and distill sophisticated legal requirements into impactful insights for business leaders
Experience giving global privacy advice
Certified International Privacy Professional (CIPP/US)
Additional privacy certifications (CIPP/E, CIPP/M or CIPP/T) would be an optional benefit
