eBay Inc.’s Legal Department is hiring an experienced non-patent intellectual property lawyer based in Salt Lake City, to join our Global Intellectual Property Legal Team. The Senior Legal Counsel will provide trademark, copyright and other non-patent IP advice to the legal, business and product teams of eBay Marketplaces. The primary focus will be on all non-patent IP matters of the US marketplace. Further, the Senior Legal Counsel will support eBay’s global projects and programs.

Provide day-to-day expert legal counsel (including occasional trainings) to business units, product and marketing teams and in-house attorneys, on any IP related questions that come up within the eBay Marketplaces.
Collaborate with in-house attorneys, project managers, business partners and engineers and advise on eBay’s global/regional/local products, features, services and projects, with an eye toward mitigating intellectual property legal risks.
Support in-house attorneys with commercial contract drafting and negotiation for global/regional/local deals.
Conduct IP related due diligence and contract drafting in support of M&A activity.
Provide guidance on eBay's notice-and-take-down program and IP policies.
Support domain & trademark prosecution and enforcement work.
Support Government Relations colleagues by providing strategic IP counsel on proposed and adopted laws and regulations.
Admission (in good standing) to at least one state bar.
A minimum of 3 year’s post-qualification IP counseling experience gained in private practice or in-house.
Deep non-patent IP expertise.
Ability to apply the law to novel situations and to work with the other partners across the company to find pragmatic solutions and risk mitigation measures.
Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation expertise.
Willingness to be flexible with the scope and variety of projects to be undertaken in this role.
Takes ownership of identifying and solving problems. Capable of working independently, with minimal direction. Strong project leadership skills.
Identifies and monitors trends in the IP legal and regulatory landscape and works with internal partners to address upcoming changes.
Able to handle ambiguity, constant change and a fast-paced culture.
Excellent social skills including the ability to cultivate trust and respect and to create friendly working relationships with internal clients.
