The opportunity

To compete in the next wave of insurance, carriers must invest to improve their customer and agent digital experiences as part of their digital transformations. We are a leading provider in helping our insurance customers differentiate with their responsive web applications, mobile applications, artificial intelligence engagement applications and ecosystem integrations. This is a high-growth area, and we are seeking people who are passionate about building innovative customer engagement applications that have a positive impact on sales volumes, customer satisfaction and reduction of operating costs.

Your key responsibilities

Your primary responsibility will be to design and develop front-end web applications and the restful API services layer to digitize insurance processes for customers, agents and employees in a way that provides a competitive advantage for our clients. You will need to become familiar with insurance processes, including quoting new policies, servicing policies and accepting claims across both personal and commercial lines of business. Although your focus will be on building the system of engagement, it will be important for you to gain familiarity with systems of record, including Guidewire, Duck Creek, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics and SAP Sales Cloud. You will be expected to leverage best practices and tools to create efficient, reliable, scalable and engaging code.

Skills and attributes for success
  • Ability to demonstrate technical capabilities in front-end development and/or microservices architecture, design and implementation
  • Experience in the latest tools and technologies for front-end development and frameworks

  • Awareness of the latest trends and techniques for user experience development
  • Ability to analyze a user experience challenge and create appropriate designs
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be a coach or mentor while being coached or mentored
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business and technical users to discuss solution approaches and leading practices
  • General understanding of, or appreciation for, insurance processes

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • Have a minimum of two years' experience with Javascript frameworks (ReactJS, AngularJS, React Native, Cordova CLI, Android, iOS)

  • Be well versed with devices and browsers (Android, iOS, IE 9+, Chrome and Chrome developer tools, Firefox and Firefox developer tools)
  • Be familiar with development frameworks, including NodeJS, NPM and Grunt
  • Be familiar with Git, Maven and related technologies to build and deploy microservices
  • Have experience with authentication and authorization with Identity Management, JWT (JSON Web Tokens) and authentication framework
  • Be familiar with programming languages, including any of Java, JavaScript or Gosu

  • Be familiar with unit testing frameworks, including Jasmine, MochaJS, Unit.js and KarmaJS
  • Be highly motivated to learn new technologies

  • Experience with Guidewire Digital products, including any of CustomerEngage, ProducerEngage, ServiceRepEngage, EnterpriseEngage, VendorEngage or Edge APIs
  • Experience with any of Guidewire, Duck Creek, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics or SAP Sales Cloud

  • Experience with cloud delivery models, including Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Firebase, Salesforce App Cloud and Pivotal Cloud Foundry
  • Experience with microservices architecture and development
  • Experience developing insurance or financial services applications
  • Experience with performance monitoring techniques

Ideally, you'll also have:
  • Experience working with globally distributed/offshore teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain technical content to nontechnical customers

  • Willingness to travel 80% to meet client needs
