Java Software Engineer

FIS is looking for a Java Software Engineer to join our team in Geneva, IL. As an Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining the funds trading platform.


In this role, you will work as a self-starter on a dynamic team of talented developers, to ensure successful implementations of projects. You will also work with business analysts to translate business requirements into technical designs. In addition, you will:
  • Be directly involved in the trading of funds and other financial offerings.
  • Create and maintain technical specifications for new and ongoing development projects. Apply strong problem solving, analytical and debugging skills to daily tasks.
  • Possess good communication skills and be able to work with developers outside of the US.
  • Follow agile development processes and development schedule.
  • Keep up to date in technologies for building application services and with evolving standards within FIS. Be ready to provide Tier 3 (development, on-call) production support on a rotational basis.


The ideal candidate will have recent experience with Java, as well as SQL Skills (Oracle 12c) and knowledge of OOP concepts.
  • You are very organized and detail-oriented; able to work with shifting priorities
  • You love analyzing issues and devising efficiencies to better the client experience

  • Experience with PERL, .NET Framework, .NET Core and C#
  • Experience in multi-threading and development of back-end software
  • Financial technology industry experience
