What you will be doing

You will ensure that Access Worldpay, can achieve a superior quality of service (reliability, performance, operability) - across a distributed architecture and organization - while meeting high standards of security and compliance - at a competitive cost of ownership (investment and transaction cost)

You will help us make the market - and our customers/prospects - aware of this advantage

You will do this through thought leadership, curiosity and insight generation, customer centricity, strong communication, collaboration and influencing

Specifically you will:

  • Own the vision for Access Worldpay Quality of service, and align teams to this vision
  • Help set with coherent service level objectives and ensure we can measure current performance at any time
  • Use Post-incident reviews problem analysis and fault analysis to drive insights on improvement opportunities in line with a positive, constructive, and no-blame culture
  • Support (non-functional) requirements analysis and rationalisation through dialogue with multi-domain subject matter experts (Security, Change management, Technical service owner(s), Engineering leads...), internal and external research and analysis
  • Own our Quality of Service roadmap, detailing incremental, progressive objectives or capabilities appropriate for specific product/service types or lifecycle stages
  • Coach teams to work user stories and acceptance criteria that meet INVEST principles
  • Support product-engineering teams (and stakeholders) understand how reusable components, automation of visualisation, and new techniques such as chaos engineering can meet specific requirements for maximum efficiency
  • Represent the product externally (customers, developers, conferences...), building content to support sales and marketing colleagues cut through with customers and prospects


What you bring:

•Passion for high performance and high availability technology and deep experience in building it at scale (as engineer, architect and/or product manager)

•Strong interest, curiosity, and domain knowledge in quality of service (availability, performance, capacity, operability, security, compliance and cost) and experience of the techniques, approaches and potential trade-offs involved

•Agile mindset - the ability to jump between vision, reality, insight, learning and incremental / iterative next steps along with a strong focus on value and results

•Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally and across organizational boundaries

•Desire to grow further (e.g. in strategic thinking, financial thinking, customer-facing touchpoints and sales situations)

Added bonus if you have:
  • Experience in financial services especially PCI-certified environments such as payments or e-Commerce
  • Team leadership experience (and especially lean-agile leadership)
  • Good experience providing governance and validating compliance of internal controls, across a range of technologies and business practices
