About the team

Worldpay by FIS are on a really exciting journey to re-engineer our core payments platform to be more cost effective, scalable and cloud ready utilizing the latest cutting edge technologies. This transformation across the delivery organisation of a large scale highly complex programme will require the very best talent to get us there as it's not just a technical change, it's an entire cultural change.

The Merchant QA Testing teams are integral to this transformation and are directly accountable for quality assurance of platform upgrades as part of a highly complex, multi-technology, fast paced and dynamic agile delivery programme.

What you will be doing

You need to be a highly motivated, delivery focused individual with a positive can-do attitude who enjoys challenging situations. An expert in test delivery methodologies and have guided a large-scale transformation from waterfall to agile adoption.

The role requires adoption and dissemination of changes in technical implementation as well as cultural changes to compliment. It will require the breaking of habits, challenging existing routines and forming new processes to streamline and improve test effectiveness.

Leading and managing of significantly sized teams of varied skill sets to deliver fast and often to production deployments is key to the role. It also requires a pragmatic mindset to support a responsive delivery environment as part of an industry leading fintech/payments company.

You'll be working closely with Engineering Leadership, Test Managers, Service Leads, Development Leads and more across the engineering group and be capable of building strong trust based relationships.

  • Evidence of successfully delivering Testing across major projects and programmes utilising a range of delivery methods.
  • Extensive experience of working in an Agile delivery environment e.g. Scaled Agile, SCRUM
  • An excellent communicator, at all levels of an organization with strong written communication skills and able to articulate technical and non-technical issues to a wide base audience
  • Independently minded and be willing to challenge and interrogate decisions and or ways of working to achieve improvements.


What you bring:

  • Ability to influence and bring team members on a journey using forward looking traits, not content with following the path of least resistance.
  • Solid, hands-on testing background, with in depth knowledge of testing techniques, test management processes, defect management, software automation techniques and associated technologies.
  • Highly collaborative and demonstrates a proactive 'can do' attitude.
  • Experience of managing large scale multi-location teams of 5-10+ direct reports and 25+ overall
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of infrastructure, system design and integration, within a complex technical landscape.
  • Test Automation techniques and tools such as BDD, TDD.


Added bonus if you have:

  • Experience of leading a transformation from Monolith to Microservices delivery practices within a test organisation.
  • Experience of working within the financial services industry, particularly payments.
  • Demonstrableleadership skillsand clear evidence ofownershipof all aspects relating to testing
  • A holder of (or working toward) the ISTQB Advanced Test Manager Certificate in Software Testing.
  • Creative mindset to develop innovative solutions to existing problems.
