AP Manager (Help Desk)

Job Description

The AP Help Desk Manager reports to the Senior Business Relationship Manager of the North America Purchasing & Accounts Payable team and is responsible for taking an active role in leading, improving, and supporting the customer service framework.

The focus of the role is to actively manage Customer Service utilizing data to analyze trends, identify improvements and training opportunities. The Help Desk Manager will collaborate with colleagues to understand issues, offer viable solutions that support business needs and enhance customer experience, while ensuring compliance to policies, government and/or market legal requirements. Effectively managing the perceptions and expectations of internal partners is essential to the success of this role.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Compile data from various sources to analyze, identify trends, and opportunities to improve performance
  • Provide thoughtful analysis and recommendations to encourage dialogue with business leaders to make informed decisions based on trends, performance and future projections
  • Understand business direction, key changes and needs; initiate and lead the conversations on how Customer Service adapt in order to stay proactive
  • Effectively lead and direct the activities of the Help Desk Analysts
  • Interact successfully with global PTP team members
  • Report on performance. Communicate with Accounts Payable Operations business leaders and other partners to ensure awareness of progress and results


  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to lead meetings with various levels within the business
  • Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking and good judgment
  • Strong knowledge of operational business processes
  • Strong influencing skills and change management experience
  • Ability to build credibility and trust


  • BA or BS degree in business administration, business management, project management, or equivalent is required
  • 6+ years of relevant operational business process experience and solid understanding of SOX requirements
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems
  • Knowledge and experience with process documentation and preparing training material
  • 3-5 years of conducting training
  • Experience working with global organizations
  • Experience in Purchasing or Accounts Payable organizations
  • Experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals industry a plus
