Gilead Sciences BeLux, with approximately 35 employees, has its office in Brussels and is responsible for the company’s operations in Belgium and Luxembourg.  To strengthen our Business Team, we are seeking an Associate Director Commercial Operations, reporting to the General Manager BeLux.

Scope of the job

In this important role you will Lead the entire Commercial Operations function for Gilead Sciences BeLux.  We are looking for an advanced expert and experienced leader who will manage activities of significant complexity, requiring substantial cross-functional collaboration.

You will also play an important role in developing and hands-on implementing our strategy related to Multi-Channel Communication, Field-Force Effectiveness and Commercial Learning & Development.

This role will Lead a Team that covers responsibilities for Business Analyses and Customer Service.

Your role

As Associate Director Commercial Operations you will

  • Lead our BeLux Commercial Operations function and as such
    • Ensure Gilead Sciences BeLux runs optimal Commercial Processes
    • Facilitate the critical thinking and decision-making process of our cross-functional Team
    • Challenge and help to align our cross-functional Team in defining and maintaining our Business focus and direction
    • Identify and exploit uncovered business opportunities together with our Business Teams
  • You will combine the Leadership of our Commercial Operations function with hands-on operational responsibility for Multi-Channel Effectiveness (including Multi-Channel Communication and Field Force Effectiveness), Cross-Functional Business Partnering and managing our Commercial Learning and Development.
  • You will be the manager of our Commercial Operations Team that includes
    • our Sr. Manager Business Analytics responsible for market data analyses and market research, patient modelling and forecasting, performance reporting and analyses
    • and the team of Customer Service Representatives
  • Within Multi-Channel Communication (MCM) you will drive our MCM Strategy and as such ensure Multi-Channel is an integral part of our Business Strategy of Gilead Sciences BeLux.  You will also be responsible to educate and inspire the entire organization on new innovative approaches.
  • Within Field Force Effectiveness (FFE) you will work together with our Business Unit Directors to ensure our Customer Engagement Models are optimal (including CRM Management, managing effective sales incentive models, …)
  • As Cross-Functional Business Partner you will further facilitate the alignment and execution of our Business Teams, identify and support commercial process improvements and actively participate to several key cross-functional processes we run (including planning processes).
  • In managing Commercial Learning & Development you will be responsible to define which commercial capabilities need to be further developed, draft a matching commercial training plan and coordinate overarching training programs in collaboration with external training providers.
  • In this exciting role you will collaborate closely with our General Manager, our Business Unit Directors, Marketing and Sales Teams, Medical Teams, the External Affairs Team and colleagues at our Headquarters to ensure alignment, consistency & efficiency.
  • You will also be in close contact with peers in the Region to Share, Learn and Leverage

Your profile

  • You have advanced leadership skills (with excellent influencing, communication and presentation skills) and strong interpersonal skills (with a strong ability to lead, align and build working relationships internally and externally)
  • Experience in MCM/FFE including
    • practical online marketing experience and to translate brand objectives into an e-tactical plan
    • preferably a broad and diverse agency network
    • in-depth understanding of digital media
    • experience in developing, reporting and communicating HCP e-Marketing metrics
  • You like to be creative, have a content creation mindset and are (online) data driven
  • Experience as a people manager in a commercial role is highly desired
  • Experience and good understanding of commercial processes and business analytics (data, systems and processes)
  • You have a high interest in our pharmaceutical business and product pipeline and prior experience in an international pharmaceutical company is an asset
  • You proactively recognize and interpret business issues/opportunities and recommend solutions through analysis
  • You have a University Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Natural Sciences or related fields and are fluent in verbal and written English & Dutch or French
