We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as the Associate Director of Service Operations. This role will be a leadership hands-on resource reporting functionally to the Global Head of Support Services at Gilead (based in Foster City, CA) and a member of the Leadership team. The Associate Director of Service Operations will interact with all different levels of the IT organization to structure, define and deploy new products and services into the global production operations. This role will act as the global point of contact for customers and other IT organizations that will have a need to demonstrate the support services teams to deliver their platform to the end users. This leader will act as an ambassador to the global support services leadership team to ensure that their requirements are being met and that they have full grasp of the services and technology that they will be required to support and deliver. The right candidate supports a shared vision across the enterprise while building reciprocal relationships across the Organization. Essential Duties and Job Functions

  • Direct and lead changes that are introduced to the global operational support organization. Ensure minimum possible impact to operations and end users. Liaise with global support leadership team to ensure proper support transition has been identified and taken place prior to go-live target dates.
  • Build and run the AV Support operations. This includes the AV support vendor and team that is onsite in Foster City. Lead all aspects of the expansion and scope of the support with a global footprint. Build a repeatable model that demonstrates existing support staff and engages with the vendor in region to ensure SLA’s for the support of the technology. Develop and run a Managed Services agreement with a Global AV provider or lead them within Region.
  • Provide thought leadership and collaboration in identifying technology solutions and strategies for new programs, projects and improvements to existing solutions.
  • Partner with stakeholders to support business applications by advising standard methodologies, recommending process improvements, and implementing system enhancements that advance the goals of the business.
  • Ensure that technology projects/solutions are properly resourced to meet or exceed expectations of scope, schedule, budget and achievement of objectives. This includes partnering with all IT groups on demand management for IT resources that will be needed to make the projects successful.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and knowledge of internal process and teams.
  • Ability to work multi-functionally; incorporate input from key partners, including individuals with opposing views, as a means of informing the strategy and setting the priorities.
  • Exceptional oral and written capabilities with demonstrable experience developing well-structured, logical communications.
  • Ability to lead in a global environment; capable of adapting approach to work successfully with people with different work styles, able to work a flexible, demanding schedule required to lead teams across multiple time zones.
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management, predominately, incident management, service request, asset and configuration management. Knowledge and practical understanding of framework across Service Strategy, Design, Transition, Operations, and CSI and experience operating within or driving the foundation or implementation of one or more; ITIL foundations certification at a minimum
  • Validated project management and agile methodology skills and experience working directly within multiple levels of the corporation and experience working with and overseeing large transformation activities and teams.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • 8+ years’ of proven success in a leadership role in Information Technology including Service Support, End user experience support, and IT operations.
  • Biotech/healthcare industry experience is mandatory.
  • Broad IT knowledge across areas like Infrastructure, Operations, Applications, Architecture.
  • Successful track record of IT leadership, matrix management, execution and delivery at a global level.
  • Self-motivated with high degree of initiative and excellent follow-up skills, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Well organized, results oriented and eager to tackle difficult problems.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with executive management and non-technical users.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are critical in this reciprocal work environment.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
  • Must be capable of working autonomously, is a great teammate and possess the ability to communicate effectively and work with all levels of management and with global teams.
  • Relevant Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences, MIS, Life Sciences, Business; or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time including international
