Director, Clinical Research (MD) - HIV

Job Description

Specific Responsibilities:

This is a dynamic role to support the clinical development of novel drugs for HIV infection. This Director, Clinical Research position will design, conduct, and evaluate Phase 1, 2, and 3 clinical trials and provide expertise in clinical HIV medicine as a medical monitor. You will have an opportunity to contribute to developing drugs to treat, prevent, and possibly even cure HIV infection.

Essential Duties and Job Functions

  • Review and design protocols for Phase 1, 2, and 3 clinical trials
  • Evaluate safety and efficacy data from Phase 1, 2, and 3 clinical trials
  • Analyze and summarize data for presentation to senior management and regulatory agencies
  • Provide assistance and support in being a trusted partner with regulatory affairs, biometrics, clinical pharmacology, clinical virology and other groups within Gilead
  • Lead efforts to disseminate data from clinical trials through publication
  • Provide strategic guidance on non-regulatory clinical trial plans
  • Provide leadership for drug development project teams

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • MD with Board Certification in Internal Medicine/Infectious Diseases preferred
  • Successful leadership and management experience
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are critical

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with clinical HIV medicine
  • Clinical or translational research experience
  • Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry experience in clinical development preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of relevant FDA and ICH regulations and guidelines
