Executive Director, North America, Financial Shared Services (FSS)

Job Description

Provide leadership and oversight to the NA FSS team and supporting service providers. Manage, coach and develop the NA FSS operations team. The NA FSS team is approximately 46 on premises staff supported by an offshore provider of 26 staff.

Motivate the NA FSS team to achieve objectives including day to day operations delivery, transparency, and compliance in operational matters, project delivery and continuous improvement.  The candidate will lead, attract, train & develop a team of highly capable skilled finance professionals to support the Gilead’s business.

Build proactive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders and cultivate a culture of teamwork. 

As a member of the Global FSS management team work closely with the team to provide vision and strategy for the Global FSS and delivering on goals that will advance the FSS model for Gilead. 

Develop a continuous improvement culture and identify, facilitate, and drive continuous improvement programs and best practice sharing across the FSS teams and supporting functions.  

Be an advocate to digitalise and automate shared services processes through  RPA, Data and Analytics and other emerging technologies to create capacity, increase efficiency, quality and control of our processes. 

Maintain process integrity, internal controls, and ensure compliance with the Controller’s Manual and all applicable laws and regulations.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
The preferred candidate will possess a minimum of 15+ years progressive finance and shared services experience in multi-national organization, including at least 5-7 years’ experience as a senior finance leader and business partner in a multinational organization.  The candidate must also have a minimum of 4-6 years of team management experience. 

•    Results Orientation: The ideal candidate will be results-driven and must thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.  The candidate must possess a strong drive to meet and exceed goals and be willing to take ownership of problems and make sound decisions.
•    Knowledge of accounting and finance and knowledge of US GAAP is required
•    Experience in high-growth, multi-national organization a plus.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills, an inquisitive mind, and the ability to work effectively with multiple, cross-functional departments and personnel. 
•    Excellent communications skills: written, verbal, and presentation.
•    Strong analytical skills and a critical thinker; must have the ability to use excellent judgment and resolve issues with dexterity.
•    Strong knowledge of operational business processes.
•    Ability to review, interpret, and successfully manage the execution of cross functional projects. 
•    Ability to build credibility and trust with a diverse audience and be perceived as a leader
•    Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook, and Word) required. 
•    BA or BS degree in accounting or equivalent is required.
•    Demonstrated leadership ability of teams across the PTP, RTR, OTC and Payroll functions
•    Ability to create and lead a continuous improvement culture is required.
•    High level of self-motivation, leadership, and strong work ethic.
•    Extensive knowledge with Oracle or other ERP systems is a distinct advantage.
•    Prior experience in bio-tech or pharma is strongly preferred
