Executive Director US Marketing – Filgotinib, IBD Lead

The successful Executive Director, IBD Marketing candidate will be a key contributor responsible for strategy and execution in support of Gilead’s emerging Inflammation franchise supporting Inflammatory Bowel Disease including both Ulcerative Colitis and Crohns Disease.   The successful candidate will be a dynamic, experienced individual with a strong track record of commercial success in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry. He/she must have the proven ability to provide strategic brand/portfolio management, team leadership, vision and direction within a fast moving, challenging and dynamic commercial environment.

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

·         Partnering with Commercial Planning, Medical Affairs, Clinical, and Managed Markets on the development of the Filgotinib narrative, positioning, disease state and pathway education, creative,  launch strategy and payer value proposition; ensuring US perspective is well articulated and communicated succinctly both internally and externally.

·         Providing strategic thinking and analytic support to allow for building out US

market preparedness

·         Driving development of US Inflammation Commercial Launch Plan

·         Identifying, engaging with and developing US key opinion leaders in Gastroenterology

·         Effectively translating scientific, clinical and market research data into strategies, messaging and tactical planning.

·         Facilitating discussion and align cross-functional partners to latest thinking and US market strategy

·         Developing and delivering presentations to a range of internal (executives, US leadership team, sales) and external audiences

·         Selection of key US based agency partners and overseeing agency relationships

·         Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and policies

·         Closely managing and achieving budget targets

·         Developing, coaching and managing performance of direct reports

·         Understand the increasingly competitive environment to ensure the Filgotinib brand team is proactively preparing across all functions and coordinating with global brand team on competitive planning

·         Collaborating with sales leaders to ensure coordinated approach

·         Leading cross functionally with Legal, Medical, Clinical, Regulatory and Public Affairs leadership

·         Cultivating and maintaining relationships with thought leaders, key customers and professional organizations

·         Working in close conjunction with NA Marketing operations to establish appropriate procedures, systems, metrics and infrastructures

·         Developing, coaching and managing key functional staff

·         Managing risk and P&L, Achieving brand/portfolio revenue targets

·         Representing Inflammation IBD Marketing position on Promotional Review Committee

Required qualifications include:

·         12+ years pharmaceutical industry experience including expertise in marketing strategy and tactics and commercial policies and practices

·         Gastroenterology experience required, recent IBD experience strongly preferred (Targeted Therapy) experience a major plus

·         Sales/market research experience is preferable, though not required

·         Proven record of leading product launch and brand/portfolio growth

·         Experience with pharmaceutical regulatory requirements(OPDP) and impact on development of marketing materials

·         Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures, and disciplines

·         Strategic capabilities with ability to conceive, develop and implement multidimensional marketing and business plans

·         Demonstrated excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities

·         Strong communication skills with experience presenting before executive staff

·         Track record of successful budget management with an understanding of revenue forecasting and expense budget planning and tracking

·         Experience managing cross-functional teams or work groups as well as direct reports

·         BA/BS degree required with an MBA or advanced scientific degree desired
