Job Description

Specific Responsibilities & Skills for the Position:
The Project Manager is responsible for PDM’s processes and systems related to outsourced contract manufacturing and for providing project management expertise to contract manufacturing (CXO) teams.  These include drug product manufacturing sites, chemical manufacturing sites, and contract test labs.  The Project Manager will collaborate with the following groups: Outsourcing, Quality, Analytical, Manufacturing, and Project Management.  The PDM Project Manager may also manage other PDM projects, including Clinical Development, Commercial Products, Operational Excellence, or Systems projects.

Essential Functions
The position will consist of the following main duties:

  • Sustainment and continuous improvement of the CXO Management processes and systems
  • Managing and deploying CXO Management related-training curriculum across PDM
  • Supports departmental outsourcing leadership on governance and continuous improvement
  • Project management of multiple CXO teams
  • Works with Gilead Site Lead and other team members on CXO strategy and management of site activities
  • Develops and manages PM materials for CXO teams
  • Monitors implementation of Gilead Initiatives across teams and CXOs.  Facilitates project communications and documentation
  • Collaborates with the team to resolve issues and organizes team to execute on the corrective actions
  • Ensures project work complies with established practices, policies, and processes
  • Supports other PDM PM department projects where necessary (clinical projects, commercial projects, operational excellence projects, systems)
  • Contributes to PDM PM department initiatives and systems

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • 6+ years of relevant experience and a BA or BS or; 4+ years of relevant experience and a MS or MBA
  • Relevant experience consists of experience with pharmaceutical CMC activities, outsourcing,
  • and/or cross-functional project management
  • Experience with outsourcing, either at a CXO or at a sponsor company.  Familiar with: outsourcing business processes, contracts, systems integration, sponsor auditing processes, regulatory inspections, technology transfer
  • Strong experience in Project Management Office (PMO) processes, creating templates, and training materials
  • Excellent organizational skills, capable of setting priorities and managing high workload
  • Strong communication skills written and verbal including oral presentation skills and class room training techniques
  • Ability to interact with multiple layers of the organization with demonstrated success initiating change and influencing at all levels
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint as a user and administrator
  • Continuous improvement mindset.  Operational Excellence or Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred.
