Job Description

Product Manager, DTP HIV


  • Develops and delivers informative patient-friendly education and other direct-to-patient initiatives based on customer needs
  • Assists in the development of new patient and community programs including creative campaigns and messages designed to reach a target audience with health literacy and adult learning principles
  • Executes tactics according to strategy with the patient at the forefront. Tactics may include; advertising (print, online, out of home, and point of care/sale), websites, medical office educational literature, slide decks, email, video, etc.
  • Demonstrates command of and aptitude for traditional and non-traditional marketing channels including, but not limited to: print, digital, social, in-office, out of home, and broadcast
  • Work well cross functionally with internal stakeholders such as Regulatory, Medical, Legal, Market Research, Public Affairs, and Field Teams
  • Effectively manages multiple agency partners to produce deliverables on strategy, within timelines, and budget, while also measuring results.
  • Assists in the development of product(s) strategy and plans; mainly Biktarvy and Descovy for HIV Tx
  • Proactively considers customer needs and identifies additional value-added opportunities based on customer insights
  • Monitors, analyzes, and reports on industry trends (marketing & pharma) and competitive practices
  • Sets priorities and makes logical recommendation in complex situations and environments
  • Sets a positive example for others to follow, shares own expert knowledge, models standards of performance
  • Ensures that all marketing activities and materials are in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements and adhere to established internal SOPs

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proven project management skills including timeline and budget management, planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management, plan execution and performance management
  • Must possess the ability to maintain, develop, and utilize a level of product and therapeutic disease knowledge to promote the appropriate use of Gilead products
  • Must be curious and possess an aptitude for creative thinking and problem solving
  • Must be able to adapt and thrive within a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Must be comfortable with sensitive topics like sex, substance use, mental health, & gender identity
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing are required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills:  listens carefully to others points-of-view, adapts style and content based on audience, and seeks to understand others motivations and needs
  • Must demonstrate ability to resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures, and disciplines; experience managing cross-functional teams or work groups is preferred
  • Proven ability to work well as part of a team
  • Demonstrated understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and impact on development of marketing materials is required

Specific Education and Experience Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in product marketing or advertising focused on patients are required
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related fields required
  • Familiarity with marketing fundamentals, strategy, sales and commercial policies and practices
  • Previous experience in marketing, marketing research and/or pharmaceutical sales/field desired
  • MBA or other advanced business degree is desired
  • Therapeutic Area knowledge is desired
