Job Description

The Position

The Senior Manager of Business Process Improvement is an important leadership role designed to drive continuous improvement across Gilead’s business processes and systems in multiple finance process areas, primarily Order-to-Cash (OTC) but also other Finance process areas including Record-to-Report (RTR) and Procure-to-Pay (PTP). The role is part of the Controllership function and reports to the Director of Global Business Processes (Controllership). This role will be based in Cork, Ireland.

The Business Process Improvement Lead continuously partners with business teams located in Europe in the Commercial, Supply Chain, Distribution, and Finance business functions. He / She is required to understand their process improvement needs and provide inputs to the Global Process Leads of OTC, PTP, and RTR for building strategic roadmaps of process improvement initiatives and prioritizing them for execution. This role also partners with the Global Process Leads, Business Teams, and IT for execution of these prioritized initiatives. Finally, this role will also have some involvement with the Asia Pacific region on an as-needed basis.

Success in this position means actively and effectively engaging business partners and key stakeholders to understand their key requirements and deliver on the initiatives identified as part of roadmap to achieve the overall strategic vision for the process area.

Specific Job Requirements:

  • Strong ability to engage business partners
  • Strong understanding of OTC leading practices in Europe and ability to apply them to Gilead.  The OTC process includes Sales Order Management, Pricing, Order Fulfillment and Shipping, Accounts Receivable, VAT, and Collections.
  • Ability to assess the OTC processes with an integrated end to end approach
  • Good understanding of the PTP and RTR business process areas to support Global Process Leads in defining and executing on the initiatives roadmap
  • Effectively manage process improvement projects and or enhancements
  • Identify process synergies, develop standards and enhance policies/procedures across business processes in Europe
  • Determine and scope projects based on challenges identified in the end to end process
  • Establish and participate in the project prioritization process and partner with IT for delivery
  • Process improvement concepts such as SIPOC analysis, Six Sigma concepts, etc.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects
  • Work with a global team located across regions and countries
  • Ability to travel internationally (approximately 25-30% of time)

Knowledge and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience identifying, owning, and delivering on process improvement initiatives
  • 8+ years of combined experience in Finance and IT organizations. In IT, the experience should include business engagement with Finance teams.
  • BA or BS degree in Business or Accounting
  • Good understanding of Oracle Financials and Order Management Suite
  • Understanding of management reporting tools (e.g., Hyperion and OBIEE)
  • Prior management consulting experience is a plus
  • Experience in working with global projects and teams
  • Strong presentation and communication skills. Strong PowerPoint skills are a must.
