Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads the day-to-day activities of a team of EH&S personnel which shall include external contractors in addition to internal line reports. This shall include co-coordinating and prioritizing daily tasks, performing training and performance reviews to accomplish company objectives, in accordance with the budget and timelines.
  • Responsible for personnel management to select, develop and evaluate staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function & conducts or co-ordinates training and performance reviews.
  • Frequently interacts with cross functional peer group managers and Senior Leadership. Interactions normally involve EH&S related matters, implementation of projects and leveraging cross function support to implement safety programs.
  • Implementation and development of EH&S policies, procedures, techniques, standards, and systems.
  • Prepares project plans and manages projects to successful and timely completion. Provides expertise to the team and functional areas to anticipate, identify and resolve complex EH&S issues in compliance with codes.
  • Supports the Continuous Improvement process by passionately seeking ways to improve EH&S processes and performance.
  • Builds relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to generate awareness, educate, and achieve consensus on EH&S issues
  • Provides guidance to resolve day-to-day EH&S issues and advice regarding compliance queries.  
  • Performs Risk/Impact Assessments; ensures significant aspects are kept up to date.
  • Works on problems where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors, establishment of root cause & implementation of corrective actions to meet business targets on Accidents, Incidents, Near-Misses etc.
  • Work across organizational, cultural and geographic boundaries to optimize company strategic results within the EH&S and Engineering functions.
  • Introduce and integrate new technologies and\or new processes, as needed & support delivery of the business goals.

Knowledge & Skills

  • The ideal candidate will possess proven people management experience and be able to influence and collaborate with line management (e.g. supervisors, managers, or directors)
  • Holds knowledge of business management or relevant EH&S technical field or possess active professional certification (e.g. CSP, CIH, CRSP or equivalent)
  • Proven operational management experience
  • Effectively participates in cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and execute tactical plans to resolve operational EH&S issues.
  • Demonstrate an in depth understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards along with knowledge of industry practices.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, strong analytical skills and problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to develop solutions to a wide range of moderately complex problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation.
  • Knowledgeable in cGMP operations functionality.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Safety or Environmental related technical discipline is an advantage.
  • Preferred proficiency in the areas of Health and Safety with significant and relevant applied professional EHS work experience.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical operations/cGMP environment highly desirable.
