Job Description


  • Develops and delivers informative patient-friendly education and other direct-to-patient initiatives based on customer needs
  • Demonstrates broad and in-depth knowledge of multiple components of the marketing mix and leverages this to guide integrated execution and measurement of overall plan
  • Understands the nature of multiple data sources and is adept at developing, executing, and communicating plans based on insights and analysis
  • Assists in the development of new patient and community programs including campaigns and messages designed to reach a target audience with health literacy and adult learning in mind
  • Executes tactics according to strategy and demonstrates command of traditional and non-traditional marketing channels. Tactics may include; advertising (print, digital, social, out of home, and point of care), websites, medical office literature, starter kits, slide decks, email, apps, video, etc.
  • Work well cross functionally with internal stakeholders such as Regulatory, Medical, Legal, Market Research, Training, Public Affairs, Sales, and the Community Liaison Team
  • Effectively manages multiple agency partners to produce deliverables on strategy, within timelines, on budget, and measures outcomes
  • Sets priorities in circumstances of continued complex and conflicting requirements, provides logical recommendations
  • Keeps current and anticipates changes in the healthcare landscape, in therapeutic area, and with consumer marketing trends and makes recommendations to adapt plans based on insights
  • Assists in the development of current product(s) and potential new product(s) strategy and planning
  • Sets a positive example for others to follow  and shares own expert knowledge
  • Ensures that all marketing activities and materials are in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements and adhere to established internal SOPs

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proven project management skills including timeline and budget management, planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management, plan execution and performance management
  • Must possess the ability to maintain, develop, and utilize a level of product and therapeutic disease knowledge to promote the appropriate use of Gilead products
  • Must possess an aptitude for creative thinking and problem solving
  • Must demonstrate an ability to develop successful external relationships among multicultural populations and organizations
  • Must be able to adapt and thrive within a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing are required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, resolve conflict, and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of disciplines, levels, and cultures
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams or work groups
  • Proven ability to work well as part of a team
  • Demonstrated understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and impact on development of marketing materials is required

Specific Education and Experience Requirements

  • 6+ years working experience
  • A minimum of 3 years in product marketing or advertising focused on consumers or patients preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related fields required
  • Familiarity with marketing fundamentals, strategy, sales and commercial policies and practices
  • Previous experience in pharmaceutical industry desired
  • MBA or other advanced business degree is desired
  • Therapeutic Area knowledge is desired
