Senior Research Associate II
Gilead is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Research Associate to join our Seattle-based Oncology Research team to help develop novel immunomodulatory therapeutics for cancer. The successful candidate will support drug discovery efforts targeting the mechanisms used by cancer cells to evade clearance by immune cells.
As a member of a cross-functional team, the successful candidate will support research aimed at the discovery and development of therapeutic agents in Oncology and Immuno-oncology. Key Responsibilities:
Optimize assays and generate high quality data to support target validation and mechanism of action studies
Utilize both tumor cell intrinsic and immune cell-based readouts for candidate immunomodulatory drugs (phagocytosis, NK cell killing, T cell killing/migration, etc.)
Maintain tumor cell lines, isolate and culture immune cell subsets from PBMCs
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience with BS degree in Cell Biology, Immunology, or a related life science discipline
- 4+ years of experience with MS degree in Cell Biology, Immunology, or a related life science discipline
- A strong ability to troubleshoot and optimize cell-based assays, as well as the aptitude to learn and apply new techniques as necessary
- Experience in Immunology and utilizing Immune cells in functional assays
- Experienced in common molecular biology techniques is required (such as qPCR, western blotting, luciferase, ELISAs/MSD/Luminex) should have at least 2 of the 4
- Think critically and creatively and be able to work independently
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
- Teamwork, individual-initiative, and meticulous record keeping are essential
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with flow cytometry and Incucyte-based readouts are highly preferred
