Director, Enterprise Application Operations

As our Director for Enterprise Application Operations you will oversee the global support and delivery teams looking after Commercial JDE, Commercial SUN and other enterprise applications supporting GSKs business.

The Director must ensure good governance of services and operating to ITIL standards. Need to ensure that all development is well managed, governed correctly, meets agreed cost and the specified requirements.

Compliance to applicable internal and external standards is a paramount focus.

The leader of this group must have the ability to drive the team to adapt and improve ways of working based on feedback from internal customers, audit findings, remedy tickets and corporate or Business Unit objectives. You must look to have consistency, repeatability and reliability of project delivery and services.

The Director will represent to multiple Tech and Business management to senior levels and be able to interact with credibility, inspire confidence and influence stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
• Strategy: Collaborate inside and outside of GSK to ensure the team develop, deliver and maintain an Tech delivery methodology covering tools, sourcing, processes, quality assurance which is compliant with GSK and relevant Business Unit standards. You will ensure the team has a technical strategy for all included platforms which manages the risks, responds to threats, complies with GSK standards, maintains costs effectiveness and performance of systems.

• Governance: Maintain and improve robust and complete governances across and in the teams to lead to effective project, programme and service performance ensuring good activity, risk and spend control.

• Budget Management: Accountable for headcount and overall team spend as part of BU planning cycles.

• Delivery Process: Enable the delivery of projects and programmes in both waterfall and Agile approaches. Make sure team design the optimal set of tools/ways-of-working to ensure consistency, repeatability and reliability of project delivery service which is compliant to GSK standards and is actively in use and complied with by all projects and programmes. This includes testing, transition, PMO and quality processes.

• Continuous Improvement: You will drive ongoing delivery process improvements (e.g. applying "Lessons Learned", Define setup KPIs for delivery to identify and measure improvement areas, seek ways to become more efficient (e.g. resourcing, design, tools). Enable a process of test and learn is imbedded in all Agile work.

• Quality, Risk & Compliance: Accountable for making sure projects/programs are checked to be compliant with internal GSK policies and Quality Management requirements. Ensure QRC are engaged and actively participating in monitoring and managing project compliance.

• Demand Management: You will enable the team to be effective in converting demand into successful projects/programs by supporting project initiation phase either directly or mobilizing the right resources. Ensure teams have effective demand management and lead, coach and direct to maintain performance in this space. Assist team in negotiation with stakeholder and resolving issues with stakeholders or other teams.

• Functional Leadership: As a member of the Operations LT, contribute to the overall running of IT, including the development of talent and capabilities. Assist in developing strategies and setting direction to enable the team to deliver at optimal levels.

• People Management: Accountable for line managing the team leads within this organization (globally), along with offshore team management via strategic partners. Ensure there is active development of individuals with differentiated development plans, applying the 70/30/10 proportions of development. Identify and foster talent ensuring they have opportunities to grow either within the team or elsewhere in GSK.

• Resource Management: Accountable for the direct or team management of the contingent resources balancing demand with supply to ensure the organization can respond to demand efficiently.

• Core Service: you will make sure core services such as PMO support, business analysis through a central team to all projects. Establish back office level planning including critical path analysis and dependency management across our programmes and with external programmes.


Why You?Basic qualifications:
• Degree in Computer or Information Science or equivalent experience
• Relevant experience (Service Management & Service Delivery) in major global IT function.
• Experience in people management and demonstrated experience managing large teams across functions and geographies
• Been responsible for large budgets - circa £10 million plus
• You will have been on a senior leadership team or faced off to one regularly, with excellent leadership and teamwork skills
• Excellent relationship management, strong influencing and communication skills with all level of the organization including senior stakeholders
• Had responsibility for developing and maintain a robust set of ways or working and governance that is implemented and embedded with the team and practiced rigorously.
• Has first-hand experience in tracking and reporting progress in a systematic and robust way
• Experience executing with Agile or SCRUM methodologies
• Needs to have managed and conducted escalations to other teams and to senior stakeholders
• Needs to demonstrate the experience in applying routine process improvement principles to ensure programme practices are adapted to implement best practices, deal with any shortcomings from lesson learnt
• Track record in delivering business impact through process and Tech enabled solutions
• Understanding of commercial business processes (e.g. O2C, P2P, WD, R2R etc.)
• Previous solid experience of Leadership within an Application Management function.

Preferred qualifications:
• JDE Experience preferred
