Director, Product Owner - Data Quality and DevOps Engineering

Now is an exciting time to join the R&D Tech organization and drive a step change in technology strategy and delivery. The Director, Product Owner is a key role in this mission and is accountable for increasing value, improving flow and enhancing quality for their respective product group, in alignment with the R&D strategy, and across different R&D lines and departments.

As our Director, Product Owner Data Quality and DevOps Engineering you will lead a world class primary data capability that values data as an asset and facilities the use of data to drive transformational value to R&D. You will partner with Data and Computational Sciences to create and execute an end-to-end data strategy for a four-layered model of:

1) Operational Systems,
2) Operational or Functional Analytics,
3) Ingest, Store, Link and Curate into the R&D Information Platform data lake,
4) Advanced Analytics, with a feedback loop to data quality within the operational systems layer.

Data is the currency of R&D and it should be created accurately and with appropriate context, secured in a way that facilitates search and aggregation, and facilitates re-use using advanced analytics and machine learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• You will champion data quality in R&D's operational systems and drive R&D up the semantic spectrum by leading the application of data models and the use of ontologies to enhance the value of primary data in core systems captured through R&D's workflows and from external partners.
• You will partner with the Emerging Technology lead to define best practise data acquisition principles and services that can be re-used across the solution groups, including for clinical data management workflow.
• You will also develop a depth of expertise and capability within R&D Tech to execute the operational components of the end-to-end data strategy model and to be a trusted and credible partner to R&D in terms of generating and exploiting data to further the R&D mission and strategy. Including Developing a 3-year roadmap to build the tools, systems and skills necessary
• You will be a thought leader in data strategy, data tools and systems, and will drive innovative approaches to data quality and engineering in partnership and collaboration with R&D Tech's Emerging Technology lead.
• Act as the Information Architect for R&D Tech and design the optimal set of data products and services that meets the business strategy and requirements.
• Accountable for managing the product backlog and prioritizing all Tech services within their respective product domain, Partner with Tech's central data team to re-use platform tools within R&D as far as possible.
• Demonstrate and introduce new innovative solutions to enterprise data management.
• Manage change activity, including Software-as-a-Service delivered change, into the production service in a compliant and efficient manner
• You will also manage a persistent DevOps team and will be responsible for Agile ways of working including reviewing and managing the product backlog, estimating value and prioritizing delivery for the products in your domain.

• Relevant Degree, and commercial experience & / or exposure to enterprise data management in a major global IT organization.
• Track record in successful IT strategy development, solution design, programme and project delivery and service management.
• Track record in delivering business impact through process and IT enabled solutions.
• Experience of Agile and DevOps environment / delivery model
• Experience of vendor management.
• Excellent relationship management, strong influencing and communication skills at senior level
• Direct line management
• Deep content knowledge of data quality and DevOps engineering
• Software Development background with experience developing API's.

Preferred qualifications:
• Orchestration & Automation within a DevOps environment
• Cloud Technology
• Semantic enrichment &/or ontologies
