Director Technical Development & Support

Now is an exciting time to join the R&D Tech organization and drive a step change in technology strategy and delivery. The Director Technical Development & Support role is primarily to develop and implement a Technical Strategy in conjunction with the Strategy Design and Test and Emerging Tech groups in R&D Tech, to transform Established Products and how we do support from a technical perspective. This will include both the technical enhancements that benefit Established Products and Support, the Solution Groups in R&D Tech, but more importantly R&D Scientists. The role includes the driving of the implementation of the strategy through technical oversight, but also through strategic and non-strategic suppliers.

• Creation and further management of the technical strategy for Established Products and Support, by working with the Strategy, Design and Test and Emerging Tech groups in R&D Tech. The strategy should look to modernise and simplify the support and development experience for Established Products and Support and for R&D Scientists. This will be done through:
o Evaluation of CI/CD and automation opportunities by ROI, that offer substantive benefit to Established Products and Support or specific applications.
o RPA plan development and execution to look for opportunities to implement an Automation first mentality.
o Identify opportunities to modernize the R&D support experience using Emerging Tech, like AI or machine Learning to give scientists better access to information so that they can resolve issues themselves.
o Identification of mobile implementation opportunities, like a view on the application portfolio and decommissioning targets that can be published to R&D.
o API layering for data access onto Established products to ensure that we can sweat the asset
o Data Mapping and tracking to ensure that we understand the end to end flow of data through the Established Products environment.
o Plus other Future Proof Tech that helps remove technical complexity and ROI.
o Management of the implementation of the strategy, through management of a team and supplier relationship and oversight.
o Deep Dive support on the very toughest issues to get to resolution for the benefit of R&D scientists.
• Core Tech relationship management and influencing, to view ensure that we have a view of future change to the technical landscape and the technical tool sets that Core Tech offer. Also to ensure that Established Products and Support can look to leverage new opportunities like the Azure tool set and platform for Established Products.
• Oversight and coordination of the execution of Technical Uplifts for Established Products. E.g. Java, Security etc across the Established Products portfolio.
• And further contribution to the delivery of elements of the Established Products strategy.
