Senior Counsel (Lawyer / Attorney)

We are searching for a Senior Counsel (Lawyer / Attorney) who can make a positive difference to the Legal team and GSK as a whole and who can inspire others to the same. Come and join the team! You will provide legal support and counsel to GSK's Global Procurement organization on complex transactions relating to the supply of goods and services, as well as advising on commercial disputes that may arise within these areas. You will also be expected to serve as the principal point contact for the Direct Procurement organization.

You will provide exposure to a broad range of legal, strategic and commercial issues affecting GSK's Pharma and Consumer businesses. This role will provide the opportunity for interaction with senior members of the Procurement organisation and will require close collaboration and interaction with attorneys from other practice groups within GSK's Legal function.

You will report to the Legal Lead for Global Procurement and is based at GSK House in the UK.

• You will advise on, drafting and supporting negotiations of direct and indirect procurement contracts, including R&D and commercial supply agreements, service agreements, and related activities.
• You will advise on contractual disputes and participating in negotiations with third parties in connection with such disputes.
• You will act as the principal point of contact to groups within the Global Procurement organisation as required.
• You will engage and manage the activities of external legal counsel where appropriate.
• You will develop and deliver training on effective contracting and sound business, risk management and legal practices.
• You will contribute to the development of templates and guidance designed to empower procurement personnel to carry out certain legal processes.
• You will support for knowledge sharing and business process improvement activities and providing assistance to less experienced attorneys and paralegals within LO-MSC and contributing to their development.

Why You?Basic qualifications:
• Qualified Solicitor / Barrister admitted to practice law in England and Wales with a current practicing certificate.
• Experience of complex commercial contracts, with a preference for Direct Procurement experience.
• Strong understanding of contract law and excellent drafting skills.
• Familiarity with key regulatory frameworks applicable to a global pharmaceutical / consumer healthcare company.
• Ability to collaborate within a matrix structure, including collaborating with and supporting GSK Legal colleagues within LO-MSC and across different business groups and international markets.
• Ability to engage proactively, influence and interact effectively with Legal colleagues, commercial clients and senior management, and to demonstrate the GSK Values, Expectations and business partnering and guardian capabilities.
• A self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team and manage numerous matters and competing priorities effectively.
• Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to undertake domestic and international travel as required

Preferred qualifications:
• Experience of advising on, drafting and negotiating complex transactions relating to the supply of goods and services in a multinational pharmaceutical or consumer healthcare business.
• Knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory requirements in the context of supply agreements and transactions for a pharmaceutical business, including in relation to quality / GMP, environment, health and safety, competition law and TUPE.
• Experience reviewing and interpreting pending or new legislation or regulatory rules impacting Global Procurement to ensure compliance and / or developing strategy changes to ensure on-going compliance
