Senior Development Scientist

As Senior Scientist, you will support new product development with leading-edge formulation experience to develop and lead new product initiatives in oral health formats such as toothpaste, mouth washes and new formats in consumer healthcare. Being inspired by consumer insights, you will create new oral health solutions which will delight consumers. You will cover a broad range of challenges - from pioneering new technology routes to strengthening existing formulations, establishing networks of external academic collaborators, suppliers and external partners, and scaling up and delivering successful launch of new products. In addition, you will develop formulations from concept through to launch taking into account scientific and timing objectives as well as potentially serving as an expert in a specific technical skill or area of expertise and act as an R&D representative on cross-functional, global teams.



Responsibilities include:
• Works on the development of new products, following requirements outlined in business strategies, taking into account scientific and timing objectives.
• Partners with colleagues in commercial, insights & innovation to create technical solutions to meet the needs of consumers, identify potential opportunities for claims and product ideas.
• Explores and develops new technologies and shares information with their team and Manager.
• Applies leading-edge science to create and develop new products for launch. Carries out scientific work with an awareness of state-of-the-art technology both in the laboratory and by working with internal and external scientists. This may include pioneering new technology routes against agreed project deliverables and timings.
• Performs comprehensive, sophisticated and critical evaluation of own data and data from other scientists.
• Writes technical papers/presentations to enhance personal, departmental and corporate reputation.
• Leads one or more projects and teams in support of the new product pipeline. Specifically bringing together the wider R&D team (formulation, analytical, process engineering, clinical, medical & regulatory) to align on R&D project requirements ensuring delivery of commitments and project milestones; fostering an environment of knowledge sharing and resolving problems where required.
• Represents product development and presents project results at project reviews and in other internal forums.
• Acts as mentor/coach for junior development scientists.
• Ensures adherence to GMP, safety, quality and other GSK policies and corporate and NPD Management requirements.

Why You?Basic qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering & related fields (or equivalent)
• Previous experience in product development is required with demonstrated ability to transform consumer opportunities into technical solutions.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability using innovative thought and good scientific judgment
• Proven scientific leadership skills and a practical approach with significant experience of using experimental design, measurement and interpretation in the development of new products and/or the invention of new systems
• Project Management skills and proven ability to handle multiple priorities in an ever-changing business environment and working with multiple external parties including contractors, research partners, equipment vendors, manufacturing facilities, etc.

Preferred qualifications:
• Experience in Consumer Health, FMCG or Food is preferred
