The CMI division is made up of

offering a deep understanding of the industry sectors in which clients
operate combined with real expertise across a wide range of legal services.
It consists of 35 partners and around 65 other specialist lawyers.
The division’s lawyers have decades
of experience both within the creative industries and as legal advisers with
in depth knowledge and experience of the many sectors that make up the
creative world, including advertising and marketing, technology, financial
services, retail, entertainment and media, fashion, hospitality and sports.
The Corporate team (which is part of
the CMI division) consists of 12 partners, 8 Associates, 1 practice
development lawyer and high quality secretarial and word processing support

includes all aspects of corporate (both transactional and non-transactional),
corporate finance and tax advice.
Our clients are interesting and
diverse and range from founders, owner-managed, entrepreneurial businesses to
companies listed in the UK and overseas. It includes the persons, funds and
banks who invest in, or otherwise act in connection with, these businesses.

our existing base of clients by serving their legal requirements beyond our
existing capabilities, but also having the capability to secure new clients
as a result of a broader offering. The successful candidate will help us to

working with and be expected to develop close relationships with a range of
clients. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious lawyer to be
key part to the continuing growth of this practice and to lead in the area
of their specialty.
We expect the candidate to have
excellent academics and strong interpersonal skills.
We are seeking a partner, counsel or
senior associate. If an associate, this comes with fewer expectations
as to a carried business, but whatever level of the candidate there must be a
willingness, enthusiasm and confidence not only to represent our own clients
and referrals but also – with our support, assistance and collaboration – to
grow their financial services practice. The firm will provide full
support in the development of the candidate’s own profile and the application
of that profile to the firm’s wider corporate (and commercial) offering.
In terms of our own clients and
referrals, we anticipate that these would be generated throughout EIR and
CMI, and this candidacy has the support of senior partners in both divisions.
We have successfully integrated a
similar recruitment in respect of our tax practice, a practice which is now
an integral and valued part of our Corporate team.
We work in teams, with the size and
composition of the team depending upon the nature of the transaction.
The successful individual will be a
key part of a hard-working, friendly and supportive team; therefore, the
ideal candidate will be a strong team player.
Our preferred candidate would have at
least 5 years’ experience, some of which to involve working in a financial
services group within a City-based London law firm.
The ideal candidate would have
experience in respect of:
- the scope of UK and EU financial
services regulation affecting financial markets in the UK, including MiFID
II/MiFIR, EMIR and AIFMD;
- an understanding of the UK
financial services regime, particularly in respect of regulated
investment activities and financial promotions;
- the financial regulatory impact
on corporate transactions involving the acquisition and sale of a fund
or other form of financial institution;
- the scope of UK and EU financial
services regulation affecting international payments businesses as well
as innovative growth companies in that sector, including PSD and PSD II.
- Proficient IT skills - Office
365, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Skype for Business, DocsCorp PDF
Docs, Word Compare (DocsCorp CompareDocs), Document Management System
(Netdocs), although full in house training will be provided.
- Time recording (Intapp TIME)
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Qualified UK lawyer with a
current UK practising certificate
