Pensions Data Analyst - Quality Assurance & Audit


Based in Bristol the Data Analyst works in the Quality Assurance & Audit Team within Administration Solutions (AS) and has the responsibility for contributing to the embedding of quality throughout the business. The Data analyst will undertake duties relating to data production, manipulation, verification and sign off prior to issue. The role of the Data Analyst is:

  • To act as part of the first line of defence for the Administration Solutions business
  • To work with the operational teams to drive quality through data handling
  • To quality review data extracts prior to issue
  • To work alongside the central Quality, Risk & Control function to ensure a robust control environment is established
  • To contribute towards improvement of operational effectiveness, accuracy and quality in data exercises
  • To process and review participant forms and requests and assist with complex participant questions
  • Review and contribute to operational processes involving data
  • To work to a defined timetable and priority order
  • Work with the operational teams to follow up on data issues and extracts
  • Perform peer review on participant transactions and client reports to include weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting

The Data Analyst will act as an ambassador for Administration Solutions at all times. This Analyst role will be conversant with best practice and will continually look to improve and embed best practice and will continually look to improve and embed best practice and excellence.

Job Responsibilities

The job holder will work as part of the Quality Assurance & Audi function to embed a culture of continuous improvement in every aspect of our Administration Manager.

The job holder will, with direction from the Senior Manager:

  • Carry out regular reviews of data extractions
  • Analyse data that has been manipulated to ensure data integrity is maintained
  • Review use of vlookups and macros to confirm data integrity
  • Review formatting of data to ensure mail merges format correctly on merge
  • To sign off data extracts (including manipulations) before data can be issued
  • To review the output to ensure data merges and communications are correct
  • Toe ensure data is handled in line with GDPR requirements an internal IT specifications for the provision of data to external sources
  • To assist in the provision of RCA if required around data issues
  • To contribute to changes In processes to strengthen controls around data handling



  • Expert using Excel, VBA, vloookups, macros
  • Data manipulation and data sets
  • Innovative - confident to put ideas forward
  • Outgoing - works well within a team environment
  • Happy to travel to other office locations as and when required
  • GDPR understanding/knowledge
  • Confident communication skills, with  the ability to liaise at all levels


  • Pensions/FS experience/background
  • Happy to be based in Bristol
