Senior Pension Payroll Administrator

Job Summary

To support the Pension Payroll Team Manager in providing a high quality payroll service by effectively managing your workload and the workload of those staff you are responsible for.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities

To Support the Payroll Team Manager in managing an efficient payroll team and providing an excellent service to internal/external customers by:

  • Being flexible and taking a positive and proactive approach
  • Ensuring all team members you are responsible for  are fulfilling their responsibilities in accordance with deadlines such as PAYEs, payment of pensioners in accordance with Trust Deed and Rules
  • Assist in controlling overpayment of pensions and ensuring supporting documentation is completed in a timely manner
  • Assist in maintaining a low level of complaints and E&Os.

To Achieving all the objectives, deadlines and challenges as defined in development reviews, identifying errors, risks and taking corrective action by:

  • Monitoring all SLAs to ensure they have been met for all processes
  • Ensuring member responses are dealt with in a timely and professional manner
  • Monitoring monthly cut-off schedules for all clients to ensure all payrolls are run on time

Staff development training and supporting team members and making sure needs are met.  Performance reviews are completed on time for all staff:

  • Performance reviews are undertaken twice a year
  • To identify any training needs and complete Performance reviews annually
  • Highlight training requirements for new and existing staff by reviewing skills matrix
  • Have regular meeting with direct reports to keep focus in relevant areas
  • Promoting a can do attitude

To ensure Authorising is completed by:

  • Authorising processes in accordance with SLA’s
  • Authorising payrolls to ensure the BACS payments are submitted in accordance with the monthly cut-off schedule.

To commit to gaining relevant knowledge expertise for designated clients by:

  • Understanding the requirements of clients and making sure they are implemented and escalated where relevant
  • Ensuring working documents are produced to avoid single point of failure
  • Attending relevant training courses where required

Plus other duties consistent with development group as requested by senior management

Experience and Education Requirements

Experience:

  • Computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Effectively and appropriately communicate formally and informally with clients, members, 3rd parties and staff
  • Logical approach to problem solving
  • Team orientation

Essential:

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and proactive approach to work
  • Effectively prioritises own workloads and those of others
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

Desirable:

  • Strong knowledge of Pension Payroll is ideal but not necessary
