NERA Economic Consulting Internship (m/f/d): Competition Economics Berlin
At NERA you will apply the economic principles you learned at university to provide clear and credible expert analysis that has an impact on important decisions by clients, judges, juries and regulators.

NERA Economic Consulting serves clients from over 25 offices across Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.
In the Competition Economics team you will work on high-profile cases conducting theoretical and empirical economic analysis. You will for example develop economic evidence as to whether a tech firm may have abused its market power, quantify the damage possibly caused by a cartel, or accompany the parties to a merger through the review process in front of the European Commission or other competition authorities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting literature and data research
- Applying your technical skills and knowledge of economic theory and econometrics from the academic and policy literature to the facts of a case
- Cleaning, managing and analysing data as well as interpreting the results and translating them for a non-technical audience
- Assisting in drafting reports, memoranda and presentations
- Contributing to the team’s intellectual capital
This job is for you if you:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or are a master’s or PhD student in economics/econometrics, statistics or a closely related field, with excellent academic records
- Have excellent English oral and written communication skills, with German and/or Italian being an advantage
- Can work under tight deadlines and enjoy solving problems
- Are familiar with data analysis using Stata and possibly have advanced programming skills in R, Python or MatLab
- Have relevant work experience and/or are specialised in applied microeconomics, industrial organisation, competition economics or econometrics at university
