Research Scientist - Cellular Immunology

As a Research Scientist you will conduct and provide technical guidance on scientific method development and validation projects and/or other specialty technologies studies OR perform troubleshooting for your own and others instruments, methods, procedures, and in write protocols and reports.

Responsibilities

Key memberof diverse team of vaccine scientists to develop animal models and immunologicassays to screen and evaluate the potency, safety and the mechanisms of actionof vaccine candidates and to support platform technology development.

Has indepth knowledge of related scientific disciplines in particular advancedknowledge of immunology principles, vaccine-related innate and adaptive immuneresponses and mechanism of action of vaccines.

Hands-onlab experience in performing all kinds of immunological assays with a focus oncellular immunology assays such as characterization of vaccine specific T-celland B-cell subsets and innate immune cells by intracellular cytokine staining(ICS) and multi-parameter flow cytometry (FACS) etc. as they apply to vaccinediscovery/development.

Proficientin analysis of complex high dimensional flowcytometry data using FlowJo, Rprogram, Spice, Pestle etc. and use of GraphPad (Prism), SAS, Microsoft Officetools and other software.

Experiencedin performing preclinical in vivo animal vaccine studies in mice, NHP and otheranimal models and analysis of immune cells from various tissues. Priorexperience in working with CRO's is preferred.

Interpretsresults and communicates to his/her supervisor and/or designs next logical stepof experiments based on interpretation of results.

Executes arange of experiments/technical studies/tasks independently based on protocolincluding animal vaccine studies, ICS, FACS, antibody assays etc. to evaluatevaccine immunogenicity.

Designs andexecutes new methods and protocols related to area of expertise and/orproactively incorporates new technology or techniques into practice withminimal supervision.

Preparesdetailed oral or written summaries of results with interpretation forprojects/programs. Independently writes specific technical sections ofinternal, external reports and scientific papers

Job Qualification:

Education and Experience
Bachelors degree and previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable 8+ years)

OR
Masters and previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable 6+ years)


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Previous Experience Requirement:

Cellular immunology assays including multi-parametric flow cytometry analysis, tissue culture and experience with high-throughput assays

Contributing information and data as required and ensuring accuracy of data provided and timely sharing of data

Understands and follows work instructions and/or standard protocols and procedures

Understands scientific presentations by team members required for own job activities

Understands and applies job-relevant PPD / client processes, timelines and resource management

Understands standard operating procedures and internal policies required to maintain quality standards and to protect PPD / client intellectual property
