Senior IT Project Delivery Manager

Tasks & Responsibilities

The Delivery Manager can take on one, or a combination, of the following roles in a squad, project or program : Program Manager, Project Manager, Squad Lead, Agile Coach or Scrum Master As a Delivery Manager, you will assemble, guide, empower and serve the team to create value for our business and, ultimately, our patients. Primary responsibilities may include providing strategic direction to business and IT, driving communication and alignment across various stakeholder groups and championing an agile mindset in accordance with the chapter's vision. 

As part of one or more of those roles, you’ll:

  • Create collaborative partnerships, with customers, vendors and other Roche teams to achieve agreed upon and clearly defined project objectives with business stakeholders and Informatics. 

  • Facilitate the selection of the best project delivery method (i.e. Agile principles and practices or Waterfall) that best fit the business needs and support teams to align with guiding principles of either methodology as required. 

  • Orchestrate the formation of a squad and ensure appropriate team members are requested and assigned by Pharma Informatics or other Technology partners

  • Support and coach the team as required to enable adoption of agreed ways of working and to guide the team through potential challenges and questions, which may include guidance to evolve into self governing teams in Agile delivery. 

  • Formulate risk mitigation strategies and recommend solutions.

  • Excellent communicator, listener and collaborator who is able to present complex information, issues and potential solutions to the senior IT management, senior customer management, and executive teams.

The ideal candidate

  • Has a strong understanding of both Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies with ability to pivot between roles and approaches based on team needs

  • Approaches delivery with an agile mindset, applies Agile principles and practices (e.g., strong focus on delivering MVP’s, focused on incremental value rather than perfection, etc) where required and leads by example.

  • Has strong soft skills typically required in stakeholder engagement (empowering people, influencing, negotiation, conflict management, empathy, awareness of different norms and expectations). Exhibits intellectual curiosity and integrity

  • Exhibits servant leadership style towards the product owner, scrum master, development team and the wider organization. 

  • Has successfully led large-scale software projects (with multiple tracks of work and teams in multiple locations) from concept to delivery.Strong skills in leading teams, problem solving, influencing, teamwork, initiative and communication. 

  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed and to facilitate virtual meetings for globally dispersed teams. 

  • Healthcare software background within a regulated environment, International teamwork or global functional experience is preferred.

  • Experience in collaborating with teams on more complex project or program decisions across multiple areas, evaluating  tradeoffs and providing options and recommendations to senior executives. 

  • Demonstrated skills in innovation and creative approaches in building new business process solutions. 

  • Healthcare software background within a regulated environment.


  • track record of successfully leading business-critical global programs 

  • track record of successfully leading virtual-teams

  • certification in program/project-management (e.g. PMP)

  • certification in scrum-methodologies (Scrum-Master and/or Product-Owner)

  • work experience in the Pharma industry

  • experience in agile methodologies, validation & delivery

  • experience in agile at scale frameworks (e.g. SAFe, Nexus, ...)

  • experience in computerized system validation  

  • experience in organizational change management

  • experience with agile organisations

  • experience with agile ways of working

  • experience with tools like smartsheet, trello, JIRA

  • experience with gSuite (gSheets, gSlides, gDocs, gDrive, gChat & hangouts, gSites, g+, ...)

Technical Competencies

  • Masters one or more of the following:

    • Development skills on C# or Java with automated unit test skills.

    • Full stack engineering discipline and practices.

    • Popular frontend stack (Web Application).

    • Popular backend stack and architecture pattern, including Web Service, RESTful Service, Micro Service, Database and Middlewares.

  • Knowledge on software engineering, deep experience in popular software engineering practices, such as Scrum, DevOps

  • Knowledge and experience in enterprise Cloud. Knowledge in China Cloud is a plus.

  • Knowledge and experience in Microservice architecture design.

  • Knowledge on big data, enterprise integration, IoT is a plus.
