What you’ll be doing…
The primary focus of the Software Engineer is to design and develop innovative software for Tableau’s next-generation Visual Analytics and Collaboration suite. Employees in this role will be challenged to leverage creativity and experience to create new features and products that satisfy customer needs and extend their ability to see, understand, and “reach out and touch” their data. The successful candidate is a generalist who loves to tackle complex problems and algorithms.

Some of the things you’ll be doing include …

  • Authoring requirements and design documents for major features

  • Implementing major features in the server and desktop products

  • Authoring automated tests (unit test and black box tests)

  • Working with customers, support, and QA to resolve bugs and support issues

  • Actively working to improve software development process by building or deploying tools to the team

  • Reviewing and providing detailed feedback on documentation and test plans for features

  • Other duties as assigned.

Who you are…

  • Excellent understanding of C++ and experience implementing large-scale C++ systems on Windows platforms

  • 1+ years developing software with a strong focus on design skills

  • Strong knowledge  Windows technologies and development tools and/or the latest web-based technologies

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver packaged software solutions to customers

  • Familiarity with OLAP and MDX is a plus

  • Ability to work well independently, and as part of a team

  • Education: BSCS or equivalent

  • Experience with modern scripting languages such as Ruby and Python is a plus
