The Customer Solutions Unified Identity Director is accountable for implementing a solution for creating a unified identity for individual users across all Tableau products, interactions with digital media content (e.g. website, community platform) and contacts with Tableau functions (e.g. Technical Support, Marketing, Global Services). The Unified Identity solution will provide the ability to better understand individual users across the Tableau ecosystem so that we can better serve and support them in maximizing value realization of their Tableau product investments, and will translate into increased retention and revenue. This role will work across the organization to articulate the vision for the end state, develop a strategy for successfully achieving the vision and drive implementation to success, leading a matrix-managed, cross-functional team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • First year deliverables: 2-3 year strategy and roadmap with full alignment from key stakeholders; establishment of steering committee; implementation plan including resource needs for implementation of 1st year of roadmap; identification and delivery of early wins to gain momentum.

  • Develop, execute, and maintain a strategic vision for Unified Identity, with the goal of providing a holistic view of customer interactions with Tableau products, functions, and content that is fully compliant with Salesforce security requirements, respecting customer privacy.

  • Partner with Salesforce integration efforts to ensure effective coordination.

  • Partner with key stakeholders within and outside of Customer Solutions, including VPs of Success, Services and Support, Marketing, Sales, Legal, Security, Product Development and Business Technology (IT) to gain alignment on vision and strategy for Unified Identity.

  • Drive implementation of the Unified Identity strategy across the organization, leading a cross-functional virtual program team, successfully managing complex, enterprise-wide programs. Defines key players and rallies them to form a cohesive team.

  • Accountable for success of program as individual contributor leader, including program management, resource planning, change management; lead through influence.

  • Cross-enterprise program management: run executive steering committee, drive decisions, risk identification and mitigation planning, create business cases and use for prioritization, identify and report on measures of success.

  • Resource planning for strategy implementation and coordination of resources across departments.

  • Communication and change management: proactively plan communications and change management required for successful implementation.

  • Drive value realization of product usage data and other product telemetry through program management across business to drive actions that achieve desired impact.

  • Vendor management: including communication, logistics and scheduling needs. Vendor evaluation may be required for some projects

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Extensive experience planning and implementing enterprise level business and/or IT initiatives.

  • Expertise in identity management strongly preferred; experience with product telemetry data, customer data and their applications, including critical KPIs that drive customer success preferred.

  • Working knowledge of information security and how to successfully implement a solution that effectively manages personal identifiable information.

  • Deep experience in large program or project management, with demonstrated successful track record in leading cross-functional program teams.

  • Ability to develop and maintain executive level relationships.

  • Strong situational analysis, negotiation, and decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent people skills, including written and verbal communication and working to collaborate and align functional teams and multiple stakeholders. Able to lead and influence without positional authority.

  • Ability to multitask while managing deadlines, perform well under pressure, work independently and as a part of a team.

  • Willingness to be hands-on, creating needed program artifacts.

  • Detail and quality-oriented with the desire to quickly learn new concepts, business models, and technologies.

  • Comfort working with ambiguity.

  • Experience with Tableau products preferred.


  • Bachelors’ in Business, Technology, or applicable field – or equivalent experience. Masters’ degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of direct or related experience in program or project management.

  • 5+ years of experience Program leadership.
