What you’ll be doing…

The Partner Solution Engineer is a proven individual contributor and leader recognized within the company for the extensive depth and breadth of their technical expertise. The Partner Solution Engineer is a key point of contact for escalations on more technically challenging and complex opportunities that often require the support from multiple field Sales Consultants.  Consistently demonstrates outstanding presentation, speaking and writing skills and is able to create and deliver compelling product demonstrations by clearly articulating/translating technical advantages into business benefits and solutions.  The Partner Solution Engineer collects and organizes feedback about sales opportunities, product features, competition, processes and methodologies.  Focuses on providing specialized technical guidance for a regional team of Sales Consultants.  Additional responsibilities include being the de facto expert in Tableau Software products - communicating the features, capabilities, and benefits of Tableau to prospective and current customers.

Some of the things you’ll be doing include …

  • Develops and delivers outstanding Tableau presentations and product demonstrations that range from standard to custom.  Effectively communicates with all levels of an organization whether in a formal presentation or a casual conversation.  Confident even in tense or adversarial situations.  Well prepared, themed value-based approach to all presentations.  Writing clear, concise and compelling.
  • Implements Tableau’s entire software suite for custom Guided Evaluations and Proof-of Concepts (POC) scenarios where customers or prospects evaluate in an on-premise or cloud development environment. Supports off-site and/or on-site Guided Evaluations and POCs utilizing Tableau software to address the customer’s business issue(s) of moderate to extremely complex scope with customer provided or mocked-up data.  As a part of this process, responsible as the expert for formulating and leading a presales team and all aspects of the technical sales process for prospective clients and customers while ensuring customer satisfaction.  Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria of obtaining results.  Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.
  • Stays abreast on Tableau product roadmap as well as understanding the scenarios, features, and functions within our enterprise product platform.  Presents and articulates advanced product features and benefits, product future direction and overall Tableau solutions.
  • Provides feedback from the field sales organization to Product Management regarding gaps between Tableau product functionality and market/customer demand.  Convinces and persuades senior management on matters of strategic and operational importance in area of product(s) responsibility.
  • Provides proactive presales technical/functional support to prospects and customers while ensuring customer satisfaction with no supervision.  Maintains regular communication with clients and Tableau CSM to ensure on-going customer satisfaction and to identify new upsell/expansion opportunities.
  • Arranges and conducts face-to-face and/or web-based prospect/customer meetings as necessary to support presales activities (e.g., discovery, requirements analysis, presentation/demonstration, etc.).
  • Applies in-depth knowledge as lead contributor on multi-dimensional projects and sales opportunities with significant and unique components.  Develops new concepts, methods and techniques for responses requiring cross-functional initiatives.  May supervise a team of field SCs for large projects, opportunities and/or RFP project responses.
  • Mentors and shadows individual contributing SC colleagues (Associate SC, SC and Senior SCs) who are in development stages and provides constructive feedback.
  • Identifies best practices for customer success and provides effective feedback to influence success plans.
  • Generates referrals and leads for Tableau’s Professional Services organization.
  • Contributes to Tableau community’s external, internal or professional blog (visible evangelist).

Who you are…

  • Domain. Experience with Enterprise ETL or Data Preparation tools (Informatica, Alteryx, etc.) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experienced.  Relevant years’ experience using Tableau Software or business intelligence tools. 15+ years' Presales experience or equivalent
  • Detail oriented. Handle details accurately and in a timely manner
  • Highly Technical.  You have strong technical skills across various technologies & impeccable business acumen.
  • Go-Getter.  Willing to go the extra mile with a strong work ethic; self-directed and resourceful.
