Some of the things you will be doing include:

  • Ensure high uptime and reliability of Tableau Online\Tableau Public by providing 24x7 monitoring and optimal response processes

  • Accountable for triaging, investigating, and troubleshooting product defects raised from Support and helping Support solve hardest non-product issues raised by on-prem customers

  • Establish a scalable Site Reliability Engineering function, including integrated, automated monitoring and Self-healing

  • Work with CISO on compliance and security, from threat monitoring to comply with appropriate security standards (SSAE 16, ISAE 3402, etc.)

  • Establish KPIs and metrics that ensure a high bar for uptime of Production systems and provide deep visibility into the production systems' health.

  • Work across teams at Tableau to ensure that we can deliver our solutions in production with scale and reliability and deal with customer's product issues with urgency and care. 

  • Drive operational rigor, apply best practices and processes through rapid organizational growth 

  • Drive the technical culture, so every team member obsesses about scale, performance, security, operations, and ease of use.  

  • Assist with making Tableau a company of builders; you will be expected to attract and senior engineering talent to continue Tableau's focus on building great software for our customers. 

Who you are:

  • You've operated production SaaS systems at scale.

  • You've understood and put into practice SRE principles.

  • You've grown and led a large team of SREs, Product supportability engineers, and managers (50+ people), fostering an inclusive environment.

  • Experience supporting customer problems and communication

  • History of strong leadership to drive recruiting, building, and growing engineering organizations at scale.

  • Strong technical background that includes cloud technology, distributed systems, web technologies, and build tools

  • Ability to formulate and articulate strategy/vision and effectively drive consensus across the organization 

  • Excellence technical communications skills at all levels of the organization, including both technical and non-technical individuals 

  • Strong organizational judgment and problem-solving

  • Developed collaborative interpersonal communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening communications. 

  • BS in Computer Science or related field preferred (Graduate Degree in Computer Science or related field is a plus) 15+ years of experience managing a high-performing engineering team in a rapidly growing environment.
