Legal Counsel - 9 Month FTC - London

We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our Legal and Regulatory team in London.

The job holder will provide legal advice and support to the SCIB Banking business and other relevant stakeholders, including Risk, Compliance and Middle Office.

As a Legal Counsel your main responsibilities will be to

* Identifying, assessing and managing legal risk as appropriate, escalating issues to senior management promptly.
* Drafting and negotiating legal documentation, including bilateral facilities, term sheets, participation agreements, etc.
* Managing internal and external stakeholders, including instructing external counsel where necessary and participating in trade association meetings.
* Managing legal and regulatory projects and participating in other Legal Department initiatives.
* Drafting documentation and delivering advice in a timely manner, managing stakeholder and client expectations and transaction deadlines appropriately.

Minimum skills and experience required

* Must hold either a current Solicitors Practising Certificate for England and Wales or be fully admitted to the English Bar or hold a Scottish or foreign jurisdiction equivalent qualification.
* Knowledge and understanding of trade finance transactions, including letters of credit, guarantees, bonds and/or receivables finance, e.g. receivables purchase programmes, borrowing base facilities is highly desirable.
* Ideally the candidate would have in house experience in a similar transactional role or experience in the banking department of a UK lawfirm
* Experience of developing and maintaining effective relationships with senior stakeholders.
* Possess strong influencing skill - able to advise the business on the best approaches, helping them to understand the constraints/risks and assisting the business in developing solutions.

Our Triton Square office in London is conveniently located within walking distance from Euston Station and Warren Street Station. It's one of our biggest offices in the UK and is home to a range of key functions for the bank from Marketing, Finance and Risk to Digital and HR.
