We are looking for a junior robotics engineer with hands on experience of developing robotic systems. We need someone who is comfortable using software and control to get real systems working.
The role is based at our bespoke new facility in West Dean - which is just outside of Salisbury and easily commutable from Southampton, Basingstoke, Winchester, Andover and the Thames Valley tech corridor.
Responsibilities (although not limited to):
Aiding development of robot software capabilities including perception, localisation, navigation and communication
Controlling actuators to get our robots moving
Interfacing with sensors to gather data
Analysing, benchmarking and troubleshooting complex robotic problems on farm and in the lab
Working hands on to solve robot problems
We always support colleagues to develop their skills. But to be successful in this job you really do need to already be able to do most of these fabulous things…
Have a Bachelor or Masters in robotics, mechatronics, computer science, engineering or similar/equivalent
Commercial or academic experience building robots
ROS ( Framework, tools, … )
Understanding of basic Linux administration
Proven ability to code in Python or C++
Git and Version Control
Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g. Serial, Ethernet, CAN)
Automation technique skills (e.g. control loop tuning)
Experience of definition and execution of test process and test planning
Experience interfacing sensors and actuators

Salary from £25,000 for a normal 40 hours / week
