Communications Manager-Games

Job Summary:

The Communications Manager will support the Senior Manager, Communications in the development, planning and execution of communications efforts supporting a variety of products within console, PC mobile games and connected experiences developed by external partners in collaboration with Disney’s Games and Interactive Experiences team. The candidate must be a highly collaborative, data driven self-starter able to work in a fast-paced environment.

As a Communications Manager the ideal candidate will liaise with external partners and key internal teams to plan and execute communications for titles across multiple franchises, including Disney, Disney/Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and 20th Century Studios. Responsibilities will include reviewing and approving communications strategies and plans (inclusive of media relations, influencer relations, and social media) as well as the review and approval of all associated communications materials.

This person is expected to possess a wide set of skills including communications strategy and planning, copywriting and editing, social media strategy and content creation, collaboration with others throughout the organization, and ongoing self-education, all accomplished with a highly productive work ethic, supporting demeanor, and the highest levels of professionalism.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Manager, Communications in the public relations campaigns for a variety of products including mobile games, console games and high-tech consumer products – including overall communications strategy, key consumer-facing messaging, media and social media messaging development and execution.
  • Provide day-to-day communications support for licensees in collaboration with brand marketing and franchise colleagues for campaigns including new product announcements, events, product launches, in-game events, and sustain efforts.
  • Work closely with game development studios, licensees, and internal partners to ensure goals and priorities are aligned.
  • Partner closely with integrated marketing, social media and franchise teams on the execution of communications plans through announcement, launch and sustainment phases.
  • Drive editorial social media opportunities in collaboration with social media team, synergy and marketing teams.
  • Lead measurement and analysis efforts for Games and Interactive Experiences in collaboration with the DPEP Analytics and Insights team to deliver actionable insights to business leads.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of four years of experience in public relations, either in-house or agency.
  • Experience working with established global brands - ideally within games.
  • Passionate about the games industry and high-tech consumer products.
  • Strong project management skills - must be able to multi-task and effectively manage communications initiatives simultaneously across multiple licensees and franchises.
  • Personality suited to handle responsibility and working under strict deadlines.
  • Experience in executing world-class media, influencer and social media communications campaigns.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in video game or consumer technology PR is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in social media or video content creation is a plus.
  • Crisis communications experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of and experience in digital communications, using paid and organic tactics.
  • Understanding of advanced media monitoring and analytics tools.

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
