Finance Analyst

Job Summary:

We hare hiring a Finance Analyst on an initial 12 month fixed term contract to join the Disney Finance team based in Sydney.



This role is predominantly responsible for providing specialist advice, sound financial planning and commercial analysis to the Finance Manager for ESPN, National Geographic and supporting the Television and Digital Businesses, including supporting the management of Ad Sales, Affiliate Revenue and management of functional cost centres.

Responsibilities:

ESPN & National Geographic Finance Responsibilities
  • Forecasting, planning, analysing and uploading the TV and Digital Media business forecasts in accordance with regional and US planning cycles. Including, 5 Year Plan (5YP), annual operating plan (AOP) and quarterly forecasts.
  • Preparation of all submissions for Finance Manager to review to regional consolidators.
  • Support to prepare revenue forecasts across Affiliate, Ad Sales and Other Revenue sources.
  • Track ad sales actual performance versus budget, update live reporting to ensure on-time detailed reporting available to Commercial Director and Ad Sales team
  • Liaise with US based Finance teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition and attribution of global ad sales deals
  • Provide monthly cost tracking to department heads. Review and analyse revenues and costs versus forecast, providing commentary and insights where relevant.
  • Ad hoc project work and financial modelling to support the Finance Manager
ESPN Accounting Responsibilities
  • Providing the accounting team with Month End and Quarter Close journal entries
  • Preparation of Quarterly Close submission templates and analysing any variances to budget and to prior year quarter for review by the Finance Manager
  • Work with the ESPN Shared Services team and Ad Sales operations team to ensure ad sales invoices are raised monthly, accurately reflecting agency commission, GST and correct currency, sent to clients in a timely manner.
  • Work with ESPN Affiliate & Syndication billing teams to ensure subscriber reports are received, invoices sent to partners and accruals accurately reflect current contracts.
  • Be a super user of the invoicing system, learning how to reprint invoices ad run various reports
  • Reconciliations of monthly ad sales invoices to SAP balances
  • Act as a key liaison person for the ESPN Audit, work with TWDC Shared Accounting Services and auditors to ensure completion of the audit on time.
  • Preparing and communicating P&L information in appropriate formats for internal and external review
  • Review actual expenditure against plan and proactively communicate required changes to accounting teams and budget stakeholders.
Other Responsibilities
  • Assist as required with any special projects for this area or the broader finance function in the Australian or New Zealand markets.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified; CA/ CPA or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years in a similar role
  • Media / TV experience is preferable
  • Experience with full P&L analysis/Financial Planning & Analysis
