Senior Manager, Decision Science

The Disney Decision Science and Integration (DDSI) is the Walt Disney Company’s center of excellence for developing and deploying innovative analytics that support decision making for client organizations across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC), including Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (e.g., ABC, ESPN, FX, Studio Entertainment, Disney Theatrical Group) and Parks, Experiences & Products. To drive business value through decision-shaping analytics, DDSI leverages technology, optimization, simulation, statistics and machine learning models to explore opportunities and deploy new analytical capabilities.

The Decision Science team within DDSI is looking for a Senior Manager, Decision Science. This individual is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for a highly skilled team of experts across technical domains, in order to design, develop and deliver solutions that advance decision-making capabilities across TWDC. In addition to providing holistic technical oversight, the Senior Manager will be expected to lead interactions with our vendors and internal TWDC teams such as Project/Product Management, Data Integration, and various segment-specific analytics and technology groups. As the Decision Science team pursues a next generation analytics platform of capabilities, the Senior Manager will advance reusable scientific capabilities that have potential for broad use beyond current project deliveries.


  • Lead and develop a team of analytical professionals who perform data analysis, modeling, solution development, sustainment, and product/client engagement across a portfolio of projects in a domain area to support TWDC
  • Direct the design and development of advanced analytical capabilities (i.e., deploying AI/ML, forecasting, estimation, optimization and/or simulation in an ensembled fashion)
  • Lead directly and via influence in a matrixed environment
  • Driving results in the face of uncertainty and challenges to ensure delivery of analytically-driven solutions.
  • Play a key leadership role in processes improvements and adoption of the latest business, science and technology standards and best practices (e.g., cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, scalable and sustainable design practices)
  • Ability to navigate between hands-on technical coaching (e.g., python, R, SQL), tactical project leadership, and business-focused consulting with clients and executives
  • Exhibit critical strategic thinking and creative problem solving in order to scope work, shape deliverables, set priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate results that can be understood and acted upon
  • Ability to think and act independently on a daily basis, while maintaining a cross-functional and holistic perspective for implementation decisions
  • Demonstrated ability collaborate and communicate effectively with audiences ranging from entry-level professionals to high-level executives
  • Strength at concisely communicating complex topics to varied audiences, in order to act as science consultant to any business units within The Walt Disney Company

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in analytics discipline
  • Mathematical modeling, such as AI/ML, forecasting, estimation, optimization and/or simulation techniques (e.g., linear/non-linear programming, discrete event simulation, hyperparameter tuning, predictive modeling, supervised learning)
  • Experience with analytical coding languages such as Python, R, SAS, SQL
  • Ability to learn technical methods and tools independently
  • Strength in leadership to navigate complex organizational dynamics, remove barriers, and be a thought partner for all levels

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with software development tools such as GitLab/GitHub, Docker Cloud computing concepts including auto-scaling, AWS infrastructure & services

Required Education

  • Masters degree or equivalent experience in Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Econometrics or related field

Preferred Education

  • PhD in Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Econometrics or related field preferred
