Senior Manager Scripted – France (Original Productions)

Job Summary:

The Opportunity & Responsibilities:

Working with the Director of Original Productions, this role is responsible for supporting the Director Scripted with the development and production of scripted content and the showrun of the original productions pipe-line. Includes full commissions as well as prebuys and co-productions ensuring timely, efficient, on-brand delivery of new and returning long form series at the maximum level of quality permitted by budgeted regional 5YP production assumptions. Leads creative (incl. writing, talent, editorial, production) for greenlit productions as well as ongoing development.

In addition to local French productions managed directly by this person, works closely with regional teams on ensuring local productions meet brand/business/creative objectives. The role will also be responsible for identifying and reviewing editorially French theatrical movies to invest in for the Disney+ and Star brands.
  • Development and production of original television scripted entertainment for TWDC France
  • In collaboration with the Director of Original Productions, research and the commercial leaders, determine scripted needs for original production and theatrical movies pre acquisitions on a local level
  • Collaborate with local programming and production teams to identify scripted projects for local production, provide supervisory executive production on local projects.
  • Responsible for delivering projects on budget and within the required timeline.
  • Manage relationship with local, regional and international teams with the aim to leverage story development in company for the French market.
  • Manage/develop relationships with the creative community (writers, directors, actors, producers, etc.) and 3rd party production companies across France.
  • Manage a development team ensuring clarity in the brief, constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and delivery of top quality original productions.
  • Ensure quality level of originals and theatrical movies is in line with the brands.

  • Directly accountable to the Director of Original Productions

  • Direct management of the contracted production companies on greenlit productions and writers for developments
  • Internal stakeholders (genre editorial heads, DTC content head, marketing/publicity, research, studio creatives, etc.)
  • External stakeholders (production companies, writers, directors, actors, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

The Experience we require from you:
  • Ability to drive high level editorial projects, to drive excellency throughout every steps of production process (including writing, casting, filming, post-production) and effectively reach resolution
  • Ability to select high level theatrical movies and liaise with the acquisitions team
  • Excellent creative skills, ability to manage overall responsibility for series production
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to quickly build relationships and handle conflict effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with varied levels of management, peers and partners
  • Clear-thinking, straightforward approach to creative problem-solving and decision making
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Detailed working knowledge of both scripted entertainment development and production processes
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Strong and established relationships with creative community
  • Required Education: Bachelor’s degree minimum, preferably in Business, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Cinema/Television or related field
