Actuarial Analyst

Role

This role will support the delivery of Actuarial Analytics to the highest standard to meet client and broker needs. The successful candidate should be able to work across the full range of Specialty classes including Marine, Aviation, Casualty, Property D&F and Retro and play a key role in delivering the analytics for all Specialty projects. This individual will also be responsible for inputting into benchmarking projects and other Financial Analysis activities. Additionally, training of graduates will be required.

Actuarial and Capital (60%)

  • Become expert user of the Willis Re iFM reinsurance modelling software
  • Ability to work with brokers and proactively produce insightful and comprehensive analytical solutions to a wide variety of business situations
  • Delivering analytics for Specialty projects will include:
  • Managing client data requests
  • Manipulating client data to parameterise Gross Loss models
  • Run RI structures in iFM
  • Produce and interpret analyses, running multiple iterations if necessary
  • Presenting results both internally to brokers and externally to clients
  • Producing Powerpoint presentations for clients
  • Assist with the training of graduates
  • Deliver a modelling plan to be approved before the start of any major project. This will include an outline of:
  • Scope of modelling
  • Intended approach and design for gross and reinsurance
  • Summary of deliverables
  • Timeline including key milestones and deliverable dates, allowing sufficient time for review to take place.
  • Assist with the development of the Willis Re Specialty Cyber offering

Corporate Solutions (20%)

  • Work within the Corporate solutions unit to deliver analytical responses to client needs. This will include:
  • Capital raising
  • Lloyds Syndicate Start-ups
  • Lloyds SPAs
  • Sourcing MGA platforms and assisting with Binder Placement

Data and Financial Analysis (20%)

  • Assist with the development of benchmark database as a way of leveraging client data and placement analytics
  • Pass CFA Level 1 (Optional for individuals studying the actuarial exams)
  • Ability to carry out Financial modelling and manage publicly available information to understand client needs more deeply

Requirements

  • Strong statistical background with solid general reinsurance or insurance experience
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and techniques to a dynamic environment
  • Part Qualified actuary
  • Sound oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with both brokers and clients
  • The ability to work in a team and autonomously; and general willingness to lean and grow
  • Excel, VB, Programming skills preferred
