Actuarial Consultant


Overview of the role: As a Life Insurance Consultant you will work as part of a team on a wide variety of complex projects such as statutory valuation, pricing, financial modelling, mergers and acquisitions for life insurance firms.

Performance Objectives


  • Deliver work in accordance to project deadlines
  • Experienced Associates will often begin to serve as the project manager on some projects which includes:
  • Creating project plans
  • Monitoring progress to deadlines and budget
  • Client interaction and understanding their needs
  • Scheduling and managing regular status meeting calls
  • Ensuring appropriate and effective communication among team members and the client
  • Deliver on projects to meet or exceed client expectations
  • Increase efficiency within client teams by identifying ways to improve processes


  • Work together with Market Leader to deliver proposals and projects that meet or exceed client expectations
  • Involvement in R&D to develop and enhance future sales propositions and internal firm knowledge to maintain our leading edge in the market
  • Develop a strong understanding of the Life insurance industry in Thailand and other Southeast Asian markets
  • Manage time effectively between multiple assignments at a time
  • Deliver high-quality work in compliance with Professional Excellence standards and proactively look for process improvement.


  • Contribute to sales and marketing efforts by assisting in proposals, presentations and pitches
  • Meet billable hours targets


  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels



  • Minimum degree: Mathematics, Statistics, Financial or Actuarial
  • At least 5-8 years of life insurance experience in a consulting firm, financial services organization or life insurance firm in Thailand
  • Nearly/qualified actuary from SOA/IFoA/IAA
  • Strong business development ability
  • Robust understanding of OIC regulations and accounting standards in Thailand
  • Have experience in IFRS 17, actuarial financial reporting or pricing, and able to work independently with minimal supervision in these areas
  • Significant insurance knowledge of various life insurance products. General insurance knowledge a plus but not expected
  • Good understanding of actuarial modelling software; high-level understanding of RiskAgility FM, Prophet, AXIS, etc.
  • Strong financial modelling skills, with a keen interest on software sales
  • Possess leadership traits and takes initiative to resolve challenging problems independently
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills
  • Well-developed verbal communication and writing skills in English and Thai
  • Confident of actuarial and accounting jargons between English and Thai
  • Self-starter attitude and ability to work within ambiguity
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Strong analytical and creative skills
  • The ability to see the "big picture," leveraging the resources of related practices to address the clients' business challenges
  • Availability to travel on an as needed basis
