Configuration/ System Analyst (Benefits Engine) - Night Shift

The Role 

Be part of an expanding team working on a global employee benefits platform serving almost 100,000 customers across 19 countries – and growing!

As a Benefits Engine Configuration Analyst within Health & Benefits Canada, you will be an integral member of the Benefits Marketplace Canada (BMC) team, involved in a number of data implementation and management activities to support our BMC solution, including the following: 

  • Coordinate with the BMC business analyst, project manager and consulting team on timing, implementations and requirements gathering for the successful implementation of the BMC data modules (population data management, vendor reports, payroll reporting, etc.)
  • Review new and existing requirements for inbound and outbound data feeds
  • Set data scrubbing parameters, define calculations related to the appropriate benefits and build data validations and reporting into our proprietary data cleaning system
  • Carry out and support unit, integration and user acceptance testing
  • Prepare and provision data and successfully launch projects

Key Activities

  • Attend regular project calls and provide updates on the status of your project activities, highlighting and managing risks and issues that could impact the overall success of the project
  • Assess requirements documentation and data to ensure a clear understanding of what is required, questioning and clarifying requirements with internal project team members as needed
  • Provide advice and solutions to internal stakeholders based on your advanced knowledge of system capabilities
  • Design your configuration approach by creating a configuration design document.
  • Specify integration logic to ensure the system receives the necessary data values to meet the project requirements
  • Implement report automation based on requirement specifications
  • Preliminary review of report outputs prior to delivery to the ongoing administration team
  • Actively participate in the definition of standard data modules being rolled out to the H&B Canada business, including: 
    • Continue to stay up to speed with system enhancements and newly identified business requirements
    • Identify areas for improvement to evolve standard BMC processes 
    • Ensure existing clients continue to evolve side by side with the above
    • Participate in the build of standard data process templates
    • Review and analyze census file structure, scrubbing parameters, eligibility rules, and reporting requirements (vendor, payroll, invoice and other reporting) for implementation of BMC clients 
      • Actively participate in the data collection planning and preparation process
      • Work directly with the BMC business analyst and project manager on requirements gathering for system configuration
      • Review work of other colleagues for data requirements and system configuration, when appropriate 
      • Ensure appropriate governance and work quality processes are followed on all work carried out
         

The Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a program with heavy emphasis on mathematics or business
  • At least 2 years’ experience working as a systems analyst, data configuration and basic programming skills (Visual Basic) and strong analyst background experience in the benefits industry is preferred 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Proven experience successfully balancing multiple projects, working with tight deadlines and taking accountability for producing quality deliverables on time and within budget often across multiple, simultaneous projects that may involve different procedures and project team members
  • Collaboration with a global team, including taking accountability for quality on-time delivery of work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong problem solving skills in order to analyze data and requirements to find appropriate solutions
  • Confident, self-starter attitude and ability to work within ambiguity
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Strong analytical and creative skills
  • Continuous improvement mind-set – increasing task efficiency and effectiveness with each repetition and making recommendations for process improvement
