Portfolio Lead (Midshift)

The Role 

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of projects; this could include systems enhancements, calculations, client letters or other client projects. 

The Portfolio Lead will report to the Technology Operations Lead and be a key control point for the Technology front-door process, project prioritization governance, risk and issue management and financial tracking. The Portfolio Manager will be the custodian of Scrum team reporting, ensuring accurate tracking against plans, estimates and management of scope control via the change control process.

  • Line Management of Project Management Office resources supporting a number of scrum teams and locations
  • Develop and maintain the resource demand pipeline to ensure resources are fully utilized and capacity constraints clearly understood and communicated
  • Manage supply and demand / capacity planning across all Technology projects
  • Acts as liaison and escalation on issues, risks and dependencies across the portfolio
  • Managing JIRA Boards to provide visibility of entire Portfolio to Management team
  • Management of the portfolio risks and issues
  • Plan the pipeline of work across the portfolio and report on progress, highlighting potential constraints to delivery
  • Understand and manage the interdependencies between key deliveries
  • Drive and motivate success in our deliveries
  • Work with the business solutions team to manage new pipeline work estimation 
  • Manage the scheduling impacts to the portfolio when new work is approved
  • Ensures timely and consistent communication to stakeholders on progress, impacts and changes associated with management of the portfolio.
  • Acts as the gate keeper for new enhancement requests
  • Defines the terms of reference and governance for the large and small enhancement approval groups
  • Management of the terms of reference for the SDLC
  • Prepares management Governance packs synchronized with the agreed governance reporting cycle
  • Providing key stakeholders with timely assessment of portfolio and component performance
  • Being responsible for all aspects of projects from the initial request through to completion and handover to production / client
  • Assisting decision makers with the review, re-prioritization and optimization of the portfolio of projects for the team 

The Requirements

  • Extensive experience working as a Project Management Office Lead or Portfolio Manager
  • Highly experienced and knowledgeable of the Scrum delivery methodologies
  • Highly experienced and knowledgeable of waterfall project delivery methodologies
  • Business knowledge to understand the relevant business objectives and issues
  • Highly collaborative and able to pull information from others with minimal impact / oversight
  • Able to build strong engagement to keep lined up with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of seniority effectively
  • Detail-oriented and able to cross-check and ensure accuracy of detailed documents
  • Ability to thrive and drive delivery in a busy, demanding and changing environment
  • Ability to build strong working relationships, leading teams and being an integral member of the team\You strengthen your depth and/or breadth of subject matter knowledge and skills across multiple areas.
  • Willing to work on mid-shift schedule.
