Senior Actuarial Consultant

The Role

As a Senior Actuarial Consultant you will work beside some of the industry’s top thought leaders designing and implementing cutting-edge solutions to challenges faced by the world’s leading insurers. You will be a part of Willis Towers Watson’s newly-established Prague office. In addition to serving Czech clients, the office acts as the firm’s hub for Central and Eastern Europe. Our fast-growing team is widely-respected locally and across CEE for its technical excellence, ability to analyse complex situations and provide relevant, practical and robust advice. We provide a wide range of consulting services and software solutions to insurance companies, including modelling, reserving, pricing, risk management, M&A, strategy, regulatory and management consulting.

Your responsibilities will include

•    Actively seek to be involved in a variety of work to ensure a broad skill set (technical, management and client) is maintained and developed
•    Deliver superior, consistent project management for assigned clients
•    Keep up-to-date with new regulations and methodologies and seek to understand the impact upon the Practice
•    Interface with colleagues from other practices and regions on assignments that reflect the client’s broader business issues
•    Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects
Thought leadership
•    Lead or contribute to the development of the company’s intellectual capital including plans for taking this to market
•    Think issues through and devise new approaches for creating opportunities
•    Establish a public reputation in a chosen specialism through the production of articles and presentations
Financial and business development
•    Meet goals for billable hours, intellectual capital development, and revenue generation
•    Develop and present proposals to potential clients, demonstrating the economic value of the company’s offerings
•    Use contacts within current network; obtain introductions to new contacts; work to develop supporters for company’s products and services
•    Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
•    Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels
•    Serve as manager or mentor to more junior associates
•    Manage and develop the team in the local office

The Requirements

•    At least 7 years of relevant experience in consulting firm, financial services organization or insurance firm 
•    Masters or higher academic qualification in the area of actuarial science, financial risk, mathematics, statistics or other related discipline
•    Qualified actuaries or candidates who have demonstrated good progress with the actuarial examinations
•    Fluency in English, written and spoken
•    Well-developed verbal communication skills in Czech, Slovak or another CEE languages (eg Slovenian, Croatian, Polish, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian)
•    Availability to travel on an as needed basis
•    Excellent MS Office knowledge, experience with actuarial software 
•    Ability to work with R, SAS and VBA will be a bonus
•    Significant experience of managing complex client projects or internal projects.
•    Experience of leading and growing a team will be highly regarded
•    Deep understanding of economic/market issues and the ability to interpret their impact on clients
•    Proven experience successfully managing projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget
•    Strong client relationship, interpersonal and team skills
•    Self-starter attitude and ability to work within ambiguity
•    Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues
•    Strong analytical and creative skills
