Senior Director - Health and Benefits

The Role

Our Health and Benefits business helps large and mid-size clients control health and welfare plan costs, improve health outcomes and promote employee engagement through broad-based, state-of-the-art interventions. We provide solutions encompassing creative plan design, vendor evaluation and management, pricing and funding strategies, data analytics, valuation support, legal compliance and governance strategies. We also provide Specialty consulting services including clinical/health management program design, pharmacy solutions, disability/absence management strategies and claims audit services. Product based solutions such as our pharmacy purchasing coalition round out our broad-based suite of offerings.

In this role you will have ultimate accountability for the P&L of the Health and Benefits Brokerage & Advisory business for the Houston office "EUR" i.e. revenue growth, direct H&B cost management, and profitability. You will be responsible for creating a business plan and executing on various initiatives to drive the growth and success of the middle market team. This will include building and unifying the B&A sales team, expanding the B&A client base and geographic reach and coverage, and driving increased revenue generation and profitability of the business.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Manage local H&B pipeline and sales opportunities working closely with Producers, Client Relationship Directors, Region Leaders and Specialty Leaders
  • Oversee H&B marketing efforts in Scottsdale: Primary accountability for leading and executing a business strategy to penetrate the B&A segment, introduce new clients to the company and expand relationships with current clients in order to meet annual revenue goals
  • Serve as a "EURoeplayer/coach,"EUR generating new business development opportunities while enhancing, through coaching or hiring, regional and local business development and client management capabilities
  • Client relationship management and delivery: Responsible for all aspects of delivery of WTW products and services for the LOB within the market. Develops client strategies to deepen, broaden and build profitable relationships including penetration of other LOB services on existing H&B clients
  • Strategy, new product/ IC development: Support the development and dissemination of IC and H&B specialty services
  • Work collaboratively with other H&B NA and non-NA H&B Market Leaders to develop and execute sales and talent strategies
  • Manage overall talent pipeline within market: Primary accountability for developing and executing on strategic staffing plans, including all people processes (recruiting, deployment, performance management, development and engagement)
  • Work with Region Leader other Market Leaders to execute Region plan, with a focus on H&B priorities and initiatives, as well as cross-LOB and cross-market perspectives
  • Leads and manages the day-to-day resource, demand planning and execution of the organization's business operations. Responsible for setting strategic direction, managing operational delivery, measuring operational performance and ensuring effective governance, controls, and compliance mechanisms are established to support corporate strategy and goals. 
  • Provides healthcare and group benefits solutions encompassing plan design, vendor evaluation and management, pricing and funding strategies, data analytics, valuation support and legal compliance and governance strategies. Provides consulting services in clinical/health management program design, disability/absence management strategies and claims audit services.
The Requirements
  • Proven track record of success in generating new revenue with new or existing B&A clients or organizations of similar size as they relate to health and benefits consulting services
  • Deep knowledge and expertise in health and benefits design and management
  • Track record of success in managing and expanding large client relationships
  • Lead strategic efforts that define new opportunities for achieving competitive advantage
  • Strong experience in leading and developing teams of consultants
  • Proven ability to establish relationships and work collaboratively with team members in other practices and at all levels to effectively sell and deliver on client needs
  • An executive presence with polished and well developed written and oral communication skills
  • Interest and aptitude in keeping abreast of latest developments in health care and benefit trends and contributing to the development of new tools and approaches
  • Flexibility with regard to travel that can range from 20-40%
  • Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree preferred
